We need YOU to help us set a course for the next 5 to 20 years. Please come and let your voice be heard as Mayor Florea kicks off the update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan with a trio of collaborative brainstorming workshops.

These brainstorming sessions will delve into three topics:

-- Housing a Community (Sep. 9)

-- Sustainable Tourism (Sep. 16)

-- Accountable Stewardship (Sep. 23)

Free parking in adjacent lots after 5pm (Aasgard, Blewett, Colchuck) and on nearby streets.

The final session of the community visioning workshops will be held on Monday, October 14 from 6-9 p.m. at Fire Station 31 (228 Chumstick Hwy) and will consolidate our collective input and define our path forward.

Glass recycling is no longer available at the Leavenworth Recycle Center

Effective immediately, Waste Loop will be halting all glass recycling drop-off services at the Leavenworth Recycling Center until further notice. SMI in Seattle can no longer accept glass for recycling at this time.

Thank you for your patience as Waste Loop pursues additional solutions and resources.

Design Review Board: Who should apply?

>> An advocate for maintaining Leavenworth’s aesthetic and economic well-being through the Old-World Bavarian Alpine Theme.

>> Twice monthly meetings (second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 3:00 p.m.)

>> Deadline to submit is September 18.

Upper Valley Park and Recreation and Service Area (PRSA): Who should apply?

>> A resident along the Chumstick Highway within the boundaries of the PRSA passionate about the future of the Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool.

>> Bi-monthly meetings (on the second Thursday of the month (beginning in January) at 3:00 p.m.)

>> Deadline to submit is September 9.

-- Full-Time Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker (7-months)

Roadway scrub seal work is gearing up for the summer!

Asphalt patching and pre-leveling are anticipated to begin any day. You may have seen Chuck around town last week, marking the pavement and inspecting the streets scheduled for work. This work should be minimally disruptive to general traffic flows.

Please note that start dates are contingent upon contractor scheduling and are subject to change.

We officially have the start date for the 2024 Street Maintenance project!

The City's contractor will be starting work in the downtown area the week of Monday, September 9 (Monday – Friday, 6am to 6pm).

For ALL streets included in this project, we will need a clear right-of-way between the edge of the curb to the edge of the curb.

The contractor will be putting up “No Parking” sandwich boards in advance of the work (a minimum of 48 hours advance notice) and will be providing door hangers as well.

This project will likely overlap in timing with the scrub seal work.

Implementation of traffic safety bollards is anticipated to go into effect September in select locations downtown

A mix of blue and yellow bollards will replace the orange barricades currently in use. However, please note the barricades will remain in place during a short adjustment period as we transition from the barricades to the bollards. The anticipated implementation date is early to mid-September.

Once installed, Front Street’s pedestrian plaza will be open daily to delivery vehicles from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

What's happening at the Howard Hopkins Memorial Pool

The last day of operations at the pool for the 2024 season has been EXTENDED to Friday, September 13.

Please note that next week's Open Swim programming will not include any water features (frog slide, mushroom waterfall, fountains) and no access at the zero to one foot pool entry due to a liner issue.

The annual Autumn Leaf Parade is almost here!

The Autumn Leaf Festival is one of our City's oldest festivals and the annual parade will be CLOSING US 2 from Chumstick Hwy to Mill Street on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 2 PM. Closure of US 2 and alternative detour routes are shown on the map.
