Andrea Fischer, our City Clerk, has earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC), which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc.

The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), founded in 1947, has 14,000 members throughout the United States, Canada, and 15 other countries, and the mission of this global non-profit corporation is to enhance the educational opportunities and professional development of its diverse membership.

IIMC only grants the CMC designation to municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements and have a record of contributions to their local government, community, and state.

We take immense pride in Andrea's educational accomplishments and the achievement of this significant milestone.

"On behalf of the IIMC Board of Directors, I am honored to endorse the conferring of CMC to Andrea Fischer, CMC of City of Leavenworth," writes Lisa Garcia, IIMC President, "We share your pride in this achievement, and we applaud your support of the role Andrea plays in your city."

During this time, vehicle traffic will be detoured via 9th Street, US Hwy 2, and 3rd Street. Pedestrians will have access through a delineated pathway, and local vehicle access will be maintained for parking areas. Pedestrian access to the bridge via Commercial Street will also remain open.

Are you trying to figure out how to raise a family and are in need of childcare?

The Upper Valley Early Learning Coalition and community sponsor, Maggie R., invite you to an Early Learning Fair on April 29th to showcase programs in the Upper Valley, community resources, and connection points for families with young children.

Stop by the Osborn playground between 4 - 6p and get to know childcare options, resources (incl. resources for families with children with disabilities), healthcare providers, and meet others in the same stage of life.

There will be free snacks, activities, and, of course, the playground!

The Yard Waste Bin is Back in Action at the Leavenworth Recycling Center

Great news, city residents! The yard waste bin at the Leavenworth Recycling Center is back and ready for use. Summer hours for the Recycling Center are now in effect.

  • Wednesdays: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Saturdays: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Feel free to drop off your yard waste during these times.

REMINDER: City residents can dispose of clean yard waste at the Leavenworth Recycling Center. Please note that proof of residence, such as a current utility bill or a Washington State Driver’s License, may be required. This service is exclusively for city residents—commercial or non-resident use is not permitted.

The county-operated, drop-off brush site in Leavenworth is now permanently closed

The public brush site has seen decreasing participation in the last couple years, going from annually collecting more than 1,500 cubic yards to collecting 458 cubic yards in 2024.

“Our only goal with the site was to break even, but the low participation means revenues are not covering costs, including hauling and staff time,” said Eric Pierson, Chelan County Public Works director and county engineer. “To cover our costs, we would have to raise the fee to over $150 a drop-off. And that is not reasonable. The good news is the community has a viable option at the nearby compost facility in Winton, which may account for the drop in participation at the county site.”
