Andi Zontek-Backstrum to serve as Leavenworth's Interim Public Works Director

Effective July 1, Andi Zontek-Backstrum, the City's current Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Manager/Deputy Public Works Director, will serve as the City's Interim Public Works Director.

We are immensely grateful to Andi for stepping in and taking on this responsibility following Tom Wachholder's departure.

Waterfront Park's parking lot will close for two days this week for dust abatement measures

The parking lot and access road at Waterfront Park will be CLOSED for dust abatement on July 8 and 9.

Monday, July 8 – Site prep work

Tuesday, July 9 – The contractor will apply dust control material

All vehicles must exit the lot by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024. Violators will be towed at the owner's expense.

WSDOT's paving project will fix a busy stretch of US 2 from Leavenworth to Big Y

Starting July 8, contractors will repair the pavement, closing the book on the project started in 2023. Project work will also involve bridge joint repairs in Leavenworth, over the Wenatchee River, which is scheduled to last until July 17. Bridge work will occur in the daytime, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Thursday.

The paving work is scheduled to last until early August and will occur at night from July 8-Aug. 5, from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. from Monday to Thursday. Work includes such tasks as fog sealing, pavement marking, electrical work, etc. Travelers should expect lane closures and flagger-controlled traffic during working hours.

Updates on traffic control will be posted on WSDOT's real-time travel map.

Link Transit provides a new, local route for Leavenworth

Link's Route 32 operates 7 days a week between the Wilkommen Park and Ride and Icicle Road. Service runs from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ALL Link Transit service is fare-free.
