City Council Meeting Recap

Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Here are a few highlights from last week's City Council meeting.


  • Approved moving the public hearing date for the Park Avenue Alley and Right-of-Way Vacation from March 12 to April 23, 2024.
  • Mayor appointed James Whitesides to the Planning Commission Position No. 5.
  • Accepted the Pine Street - Titus to Fir Street - Watermain Replacement Small Works project as complete.
  • Accepted KRCI’s bid and executed an on-call utility repair contract for deep trench work.
  • Approved an agreement with Adurra for design, bidding, and construction services for the 2024 Street Maintenance Project.
  • Approved a supplemental agreement with ARC Architects to complete the feasibility study for the Osborn partial demolition and reuse into a library and community space.
  • Approved a Right-of-Use Agreement for Three Eaves (833 Front Street) to build a balcony over the City’s right-of-way to house a new HVAC unit. AC

District 2 Community Meeting

Wednesday, March 6, 2024

6pm to 7:30pm

Leavenworth Fire Hall (228 Chumstick Hwy)

There is an upcoming road closure mid-March in downtown Leavenworth to accommodate a sewer mainline replacement effort which will be completed over a two-week period. The following street(s) will be impacted:


Week One

Closure Dates: Monday, March 18, 2024 – Friday, March 22, 2024

Closure Hours: 7am to 6pm


9th Street between US Hwy 2/Front Street and Commercial Street

Traffic Restrictions: 

  • No vehicle traffic allowed except for Emergency Vehicles; An emergency vehicle lane will be provided; Contractor will set detour signs and alternate hospital route.

Parking Restrictions:

  • There will be no parking allowed on 9th Street between Front Street and Commercial Street during the entirety of this week, regardless of working hours.

Pedestrian Access: 

  • Allowed on the west side of 9th Street, only.

 

Edelweiss Weg Alley between 9th and 10th

Traffic Restrictions:

  • No vehicle traffic allowed; Alley deliveries will be impacted during working hours.


Week Two

Closure Dates: Tuesday, March 26, 2024 – Friday, March 29, 2024

Closure Hours: 7am to 6pm; w/ overnight work starting at 9pm on Tue., 3/26 until 12pm on Wed., 3/27


Edelweiss Weg Alley between 9th and 10th

Traffic Restrictions:

  • No vehicle traffic allowed; Alley deliveries will be impacted during working hours and overnight work.

 

Please plan accordingly during these weeks of upcoming construction downtown. NOTE: Closure dates and/or locations are subject to change to accommodate work.
