WEDNESDAY, MAY 25
On Wednesday mornings, the Men's Group gathers from 7:30-8:30 for breakfast and our study of the "Men of the Bible".
This week we will conclude our study of systematic theology as we examine what we know about heaven.

BIBLE STUDY SCHEDULE:
MAY 25: The Kingdom
SUNDAY, MAY 29
WORSHIP AT 10:30AM
This Sunday we will continue our series titled THE BIGGEST IDEAS IN THE BIG BOOK as we study the most often repeated statements in scripture. Why does God repeat certain ideas? Why are they so important to God, and therefore, why should they be important to us?
SUNDAY EVENING
Kids Zone and the Journey adults group will not meet this Sunday night, but will return next week.
Youth will meet right after worship and will spend the day having a fun outing. Some of the members of our leadership team are still working on plans, and waiting to determine weather and options. But youth should plan to stay after worship until about 3:30-4:00 for the outing. A group text with details will be sent as soon as they are determined. Also check the weekend update on Friday.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
THIS SUMMER @ SOUTHMINSTER
What's on your summer reading list? How about the bible? Have you ever read the bible cover-to-cover? At the mere suggestion temptation is probably already telling you... it can't be done... it is too much... you don't have time...
Did you know that one of the most effective ways to read through the entire bible is to do it with a group? The bible can be read at a pace of 12 pages a day, 20-25 minutes per day, in just 90 days.
This summer we will offer a program that not only provides the daily reading plan, but it also offers weekly sessions, lasting just one hour. These sessions cover the content of the week's reading.
If you're traveling, you can take the reading plan with you, catch up on classes when you're in town, or take the DVD and watch it at home.
Additionally, many weeks our summer worship theme will come from the weekly readings.
We will have classes on Wednesdays at 1:00 and 6:30 with the possibility of other groups meeting throughout the week. Want to try it but can't make Wednesdays? Start a group and make plans to gather and we will provide the DVD for your group.
  • READINGS BEGIN: June 8
  • CLASSES BEGIN: June 15
  • CLASSES MEET WEEKLY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 14
You're likely going to read several books this summer. Most of us spend considerably more than 20-25 minutes scrolling online or on our phones. Why not spend this summer in the word of God, and make 2022 the summer you read the Bible in 90 Days.
CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER
Baby bottles are available in the Lobby. You are invited to take the amount you desire, and fill them with change or other donations to benefit the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Gastonia. Their mission is to provide care and council for expectant mothers in crisis to promote a healthy birth experience for mother and child. Bottles will be available until Father's Day, June 19th.

We are planning a week at the beach for our youth June 19-23. This will be a conference style event as we gather for fun, worship, fellowship and study. The cost per person will be $225.00. We have scholarships available as needed.
JULY 11-14
We will host our annual art camp for elementary students July 11-14. Monday-Thursday 9:00-12:00 Thursday party (12:00-2:00). Mark your calendars and plan to join us!
JULY 17-21
We are planning an IN-TOWN mission week for our youth July 17-22. We will stay at the church, and serve in a variety of ways around Gaston County. We will also have a various fellowship activities throughout the week. The cost per person will be $75.00 or less. We will sponsor fundraisers and have scholarships available as needed.
MISSION PARTNER OF THE MONTH
As a tithing church, we give 10% of our offerings to support our mission partners who are doing great things around the world. Each month we highlight one of our mission partners. Our mission partner of the month for May is the Guatemala project. Southminster has a sister church and sponsors a school and students in Guatemala. Prior to the pandemic, mission teams would go annually to enhance partnerships, help build homes, work on the school and the church. We hope the way will be made clear for these activities to resume. On Sunday, May 15 we will have a presentation about this partnership during the worship service, while the offering is being collected.
