O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that He might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with power and great glory, we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Another wonderful picnic! The "Octoberfest" was a big hit for kids, adults, and both congregations (St. Clement and Rey de Paz). Thanks again to all who worked so hard to make it happen, especially Fraulein Linda Kaip!
Since it's October, it is
Operation Christmas Child
time. Nancy McKinney is taking her role as chair very seriously, and wants us to make up three hundred shoe boxes to send off. Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, which distributes these gift-filled boxes with a gospel message inside to impoverished countries. The boxes are allowed to be distributed in some countries where it is difficult or impossible to share the gospel. So, next Sunday, pick one up and go to Dollar Tree to fill it up!
This Saturday, the
Daughters of the Holy Cross
will be having a
for all women of the church, from 2-4 p.m. in the Mayfield Room. No need to RSVP. Just come and enjoy the fellowship!
Holy Chow/Trunk or Treat
Saturday, October 26th, from 4:30-7 p.m., we will have a Trunk or Treat for the kids, and a Holy Chow potluck for everyone, across Montana Street in the parking lot. Decorate the trunk of your car, and be part of the fun.
Annual Men's Retreat
Men, save the date for the Annual Men of Christ Retreat at the Sacramento Camp and Conference Center November 8-10. Great fellowship, great facilities, great food, and a Great Time. More info coming in the next weeks.
Confirmation and Reception
If anyone is not a voting member at this time and would like to become one, it is necessary to be Confirmed or Received by our Bishop, Mark Zimmerman. He will be visiting St. Clements on October 27th of this year. Please email Irene Taylor at
as soon as is possible if you are interested in being Confirmed or Received. What is the difference between the two? Confirmation is when we affirm our faith publicly and receive the laying on of hands and prayer by a Bishop. Reception is for those who have been previously Confirmed in other churches, and is essentially the Bishop welcoming a person into this Church.
In our Lord Jesus,
