Morning & Evening Prayer

As St. James is making more frequent use of Morning and Evening Prayer for our Sunday and Wednesday worship services, the Rev. Peter Tierney will be leading two sessions on the history, use, and nature of these traditional Episcopalian orders for worship. We will talk about their origins in the first Book of Common Prayer; the rationale for how the service flows; their place in the life and history of the Episcopal Church; and how we can make the most of these services in our own day. These sessions will be held after the 10am worship services on Oct. 11th & Oct. 18th.

Auction Items Wanted!

The October 24th Pasta Dinner and Auction (see flyer below) needs your unique talents and treasures! We are accepting donations to help make this event a success. Whether it is a physical item, a helpful service (like lawn care or babysitting), or your famous homemade baked goods, gift cards, every contribution helps support our community. Please see Shirley Ayers.

Sock it to the Coat

We're down to about 4 pairs of women's socks, so... we're asking that you bring a pair (or two or more) of new socks to your service Wednesday, October 7, or Sunday, October 11. (Or as soon as you can.) Warm socks are best this time of year. We will have a container ready to take your donations at each service. Thanks for any socks you can give!

Changes to the Coat of Many Colors Are on the Way

The new room for men's clothing is being stocked. The expanded area for women's clothing is being repainted and restocked. We hope to invite you for a tour soon!

Food Bank

As unwanted calendars and note cards arrive in the mail please recycle them to the Food Bank. We add them to our holiday baskets along with whatever personal care products have accumulated during the year. On that note, anytime you have unopened travel sized toiletries they, too, will be welcome. We are also looking for newspaper plastic bags and clean bags that you might put your fresh produce in at markets. Believe it or not - I really can’t, but it’s true - we need the full-size plastic bags that were so common at store checkout counters.  And yes, we can always use baked beans and canned fruit. Thanks in advance for your help.

Bible Study

Wednesdays at 6:30pm (following the 5:30pm service; no study on the 4th Wednesday of the month) in the ECW Room. Anyone who is interested in studying the scriptures is invited to attend. Topics are selected by the participants—sometimes we choose a full book of the Bible, sometimes we focus on themes or ideas and trace them to different sections of the scriptures. Come and experience God’s living word!

14th - Kim Allard

18th - Ted Conlon
