What is Receiving Day?
If you have baptized young children or youth who have not yet
received communion, or they are currently receiving communion, Receiving Day will be a wonderful opportunity for them to celebrate and participate fully in the Holy Eucharist.

How does my child learn about the Eucharist?
First and foremost, children learn from attending church. Our St. John’s for Kids service allows children to fully participate in the Holy Eucharist, where they can see, hear, touch and taste all that happens during the Holy Communion. Children learn by watching the example that parents and other grown-ups set on a regular basis. Children will imitate the reverence they see at the altar.

How do I know if my child is ready for Communion?
Does your child watch you or imitate your actions when you receive communion? Has your child put his/her hands out to receive? Have you asked if your child wants Communion? These may be good signs that your child is ready.

When should my child receive Communion?
Baptism is our initiation into the Body of Christ. Once a child is baptized they are fully welcomed to participate in Holy Communion at. St. John’s!
