Sunday School begins, the choir is back from summer vacation and Sunday 2.0 gets started. This year we have a special guest preaching and teaching. And we're continuing Invite Welcome Connect in the afternoon. Join us!
2.0 Kickoff Cookout
The KICKOFF COOKOUT begins in The Park at 5 p.m.
Following supper, the EYC will take on the Adults in Kickball!

The nursery opens at 4 p.m.

Rehearsal for Senior, Intermediate and Junior Choristers - and for Preparatory Choir begin at 4:15 p.m.

(No parking in the Courtland Street lot for Sunday 2.0 - this week only - the lot is the kickball field. All other lots are open and a crossing guard will be on duty.)
Announcements & Opportunities

In September we’re filling the baskets with disposable diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6)for Atlanta Children’s Shelter. Please place your donations in the Outreach baskets located in the Narthex and Reception Area.   
The summer of 2018 is essentially over but we're looking ahead to 2019 and need your input.
Weekly Bible Study resumes this Wednesday, September 12 at 11 a.m. in the Parkins Room. We will delve into the largest book in the Old Testament - Isaiah.  See and hear the word of God through the faithful witness of this prophet as he reveals what God would say to us with reverence and compassion. All are welcome.  
Faith and Film gathers this Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. to watch The African Doctor (2016). It’s the story of Seyolo Zantoko, a freshly graduated doctor of Congolese descent in France, whose family’s struggles to integrate in a small rural village. Faith and Film is a monthly opportunity for St. Luke’s adults to share a movie, snacks, fellowship, and a lively discussion of issues of faith raised by the film. Calling all writers, poets, photographers! The editors of our devotional booklets are currently recruiting contributors for the Advent and Lent devotional booklets. The theme for the coming year is “Possibilities.” These compilations of daily reflections by members of our congregation help us to focus our attention during the seasons of Advent and Lent, as we get to know each other in deeper, more meaningful ways. Our next Rite 13 ceremony is set for Sunday, September 16 at the 9 a.m. service. This ceremony marks a young person’s transition from childhood to adulthood and is held for youth who have recently turned 13 years old. Youth who have not participated in this ceremony and who will have turned 13 by September 15 may participate in this ceremony. St. Luke’s want to make sure we can stay in touch with you throughout the year and send you goodies. Dig Day
Come help in the Mustard Seed Garden on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9-11 a.m. as we harvest the remainder of the summer produce, prepare the beds, and plant cool weather crops. No experience needed, but you’ll want to bring gardening gloves, hat, and sunscreen. We’ll provide coffee and water as well as gardening tools.  
Everyone is invited to celebrate another successful year for the Mustard Seed Garden on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. This family-friendly event features barbecue and an array of delicious sides (plenty of vegetarian options). Many people say this is one of their favorite St. Luke’s events. You do not need to be a garden volunteer to attend! Cost: $5 per person, payable at the door. We hope you’ll join us in The Park (Hamilton Room if it rains) to support this important ministry benefiting Clyde’s Kitchen at Crossroads. Please help us plan by signing up at the reception desk, via the reservation line (404-873-7777) or on-line by Monday, September 17.

EYC vs. Adults Kickball Game follows   

All St. Luke's parking lots will be open all day Sunday with the exception of the Courtland Street lot which will be closed for parking AFTER 3:30 pm. because the lot will be the field for the kickball game. If you are coming to St. Luke's for Sunday 2.0 -- choirs and the Kickoff Cookout - please do not park in the lot off Courtland Street. We will have a crossing guard on Peachtree in the afternoon/evening to keep everyone safe.
