BIKE RALLY CONCLUSION
The ride is done and it’s been fantastic!!!
Our group of 300 riders just reached our fundraising goal of $1.9 million to support people living with HIV in Toronto, Kingston, Montreal, and Ottawa. I’m thrilled for Bruce House in their first year of partnership with PWA's Friends For Life Bike Rally. As of this morning, my personal fundraising passed $15,000, the most I’ve ever raised. I’m so grateful to everyone who sponsored my ride.
It was a joy to cycle with my team (“The Coasters”), with fellow Ottawa cyclists, and with Linda Truglia, executive director of Bruce House, for her first ride. I loved catching up with other longtime riders. It’s a joy to renew friendships while sharing in a common purpose.
Cycling 600 km in 6 days is challenging. We had our share of rain and cold and we rode through it. We packed up our wet tents. Some of us had falls and injuries, and we were glad to have the support of a team of doctors, chiropractors and massage therapists. This year, I experimented with cross training - rowing, weights, yoga, running - but not as much cycling training. I arrived saddle-sore, but no injuries. I am fit and healthy and I feel great.
I’m so happy with everything and maybe that’s enough to convince you to ride with me next year.
