What an incredible summer Art Walk season! We are feeling so much gratitude for everyone who came out, browsed, listened, gathered, and enjoyed all that was happening around the Emerson: both inside and out.
A huge thank you to every artist who participated in our very first Art Market, to the Emerson studios who opened their doors, and to every artist who exhibited in our galleries. Thank you to the food vendors who kept us fed, the musicians who kept us entertained, the volunteers, and everyone who helped make each Art Walk such a vibrant and welcoming experience.
And thank you to our sponsors; the local businesses that contributed to this event and lifted up the arts in our community.

Celebrating the gold standard for public water access in the United States
Join us on Thursday, September 17th for a rally event featuring live music, food trucks, and more. This is YOUR opportunity to show up and make it known how critical this issue is to all who understand the value of preserving Montana’s stream access laws.

As we head into the 2026 mid-term elections, it is crucial that Montana citizens, anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, and river lovers let their voices be heard! Which is why we’re bringing together a broad coalition of NGOs, businesses, and individuals who rely on public stream access for their livelihoods and their lifestyle to rally in Bozeman.
We will feature speakers discussing the past, present and future of stream access in the state, and why its preservation is so important to every Montanan. Along with a great line-up of speakers, we’re also inviting candidates for statewide office, as well as all Montana House and Senate candidates from Park, Madison and Gallatin counties to join us at the event. This is a non-partisan event where all Montana river-lovers and advocates are welcome!

About the work
This exhibition represents a selection of the work completed during a 2025/26 sabbatical from my position teaching ceramics at the MSU School of Art. In addition to conducting research at important European centers of porcelain production, including Sèvres in France, and Meissen in Germany, I spent time engaged with building “The ReCollection”, an expansive project to recast my childhood toy collection in porcelain.
In the 1980’s, television advertising was deregulated to allow marketing directly to children, resulting in a wave of new cartoons and a ‘golden era’ of action-figures that corresponded with my upbringing. (He-Man, WWF, Star Wars and many more) I’m curious how this phenomenon affected my generation, and I have been exploring these consequences in my studio. By remaking the hyper-masculine and often violent characters in a delicate, precious material such as porcelain I want to alter and complicate the viewer’s interpretation of the subject.
Recently, the project has expanded to include remixing 18th Century decorative arts objects with action-figures resulting in a peculiar fictional souvenir. I have become particularly interested in connections to historical European traditions of porcelain figurines; how they functioned in culture and what they represented. The action-figure/figurine mashup contains several creative strategies and approaches common within contemporary visual art, including ideas of copying, appropriation, recombination and recontextualization in order to arrive at something new. This series also investigates notions of memory and nostalgia, branding, collector culture, and consumerism.

Cupino’s Erratic Journey follows the unbelievable miles-long migration of boulders torn from mountainsides by glacial migration during our home planet’s transition into a new age.
In moving picture, silk, fibers, and paint, she calls us to commemorate loss, embrace greater timelines of transformation, and encourages us to celebrate the immortality of our shared spirit.
Erratic /Ə’radik/
1. noun: a rock that travels great distances over time, by glacier or other natural forces
2. adj; unpredictable
3. root Latin: errāre: to wander
In paintings and film, I join themes of displacement with transformation and remain curious about what it means to simply be a part of this earth.
The materials and color I use in my work ask us to evaluate the worn-down trails of accepted facts to a deeper evaluation of purpose. I embrace with giddiness the idea that defied expectations can be a gift to all.

Unmistakably Western is a show about larger-than-life cowgirls, all hat, boots, style, and attitude. I start with my studio photographs, then use paint to push the images even further. In select works, I incorporate my Montana street photographs into the background, placing cowboys and hippies side by side on the same piece of art. It’s unmistakably Western, but it's far from traditional.
