We are hard at work to bring you something new, community-focused, and mission-centric for the Emerson. In the spirit of the Emerson's schoolhouse history, we bring you Faculty Lounge and Homeroom: two exciting spaces that we hope you love and visit often.

Faculty Lounge: gallery & retail space featuring work from Emerson Art Education Faculty. There are currently nine of our instructors that will be offering their work for sale across various mediums including ceramics, painting, jewelry, metalsmithing, painting, and drawing. We are outfitting this space with fun retro decor and are thrilled to open soon!

Homeroom: a free, hands-on creative space that will be open to all ages.

We are also asking for some contributions to add some themed decor to the room! Here's what we are still looking for:

  • Rotary phone
  • Candy machine (full size that still works and can be loaded)
  • Pull-down world map
  • Coin operated washing machine
  • Clean, tape-free bubble wrap
  • School textbooks

GHOUL BOX

AFTER THE SNOWFALL: SKI FILM

Opening on a quiet, storm-buried morning, After The Snowfall is a high-octane and heartfelt journey through the culture and chaos of modern skiing. Filmed in stunning locations from the Lyngen Alps of Norway to the heli-accessed steeps of British Columbia, the film showcases an elite crew of skiers, including Michelle Parker, Nikolai Schirmer, Nico Porteous, Caite Zeliff, and more, pushing boundaries with jaw-dropping style and skill.

But this is not just a story about pros. It is about the everyday ski bum, the weekend warrior, and the mountain town lifer whose passion burns just as bright. Interwoven throughout the action are honest and irreverent reflections from both athletes and everyday skiers on what skiing means to them; why they risk injury, chase fleeting storms, and build their lives around snow. The film explores both the literal mountains they climb and the internal terrain they navigate: personal growth, camaraderie, obsession, and joy.

Presented by Toyota and supported by The North Face, Ikon Pass, and Stanley, this film is a tribute to the people, places, and powder turns that make it all worth it.

CURRENT EXHIBITS

The Quiet Mundane

Emma Bergman

Emma Bergman's The Quiet Mundane in our Jessie Wilber Gallery

"The Quiet Mundane captures everyday moments, creatures, and people from my life. My process is as much an approach to living as it is a body of work. Rather than viewing my life as a series of monumental moments, I am learning to appreciate the mundane, the repetitive, and the beauty of small things. Rather than letting the mundane slip by, I am attempting to bring the viewer’s focus to the little corner of the world that I inhabit. I believe by observing this, sitting with it for hours, and translating it into paint, I am elevating the mundane to something of importance, as something precious to be savored."

Not So Far Away

Russell Brausch

Russell Brausch's Not So Far Away in our Lobby and Weaver Room Galleries.

"A century of fire suppression, the loss of Indigenous cultural burning, and climate change have created today’s wildfire crisis. It is not a matter of if a fire will come, but when. Federal land employees work tirelessly with little progress, caught between containing fires and restoring damaged landscapes. As hotter, drier climates push fire back into the land through both destruction and controlled burns, my creative process seeks to illuminate this complex history. Through painting, burning, drawing, and textiles, I open different entry points into the wildfire conversation. My research expands on acknowledging and redefining America’s relationship with fire."
