The documentary film MEND is an inspiring story of resilience, adaptive recreation, and overcoming physical limitations.
Over the last few years, we’ve followed Jesse Alberi’s journey from the rivers of Montana to the backcountry of Alaska, documenting a story about perseverance, adventure, and a deep connection to the outdoors. We’re excited to finally share it with the community that helped make this film possible.

Access Unlimited is a program service of the High Fives Foundation FISH Pillar that awakens the spirit of adventure in those facing life-changing injuries or disabilities, proving that the power of nature and the human spirit can break through every limitation. With the High Fives FISH Pillar, we open the door to rivers, mountains, and wide-open skies. Helping people with life-altering injuries embrace adventure, find healing, and live without limits.
ABOUT HIGH FIVES FOUNDATION
High Fives focuses on preventing life-changing injuries and provides resources and hope if they happen. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization since 2009, High Fives has helped countless injured athletes and Veterans get back to doing what they love. The Foundation aims to be the leader of education and recovery of life-changing injuries in outdoor action sports.

In Mutual, Kainz utilizes unexpected, everyday materials to create sculptural creatures that invite viewers into a more personal and emotional connection with the living world. Her work suggests that we are inherently wired to respond to beauty and that losing sight of it can have profound consequences.
“At its core, this exhibition is about connection,” Kainz shares. “We take care of the things we love. My work is intended to help us feel more love and connection with the fascinating creatures and ecosystems that we rely on for life. Our fates are mutual.”
Kainz is widely recognized for her large-scale iron animal sculptures as well as her paintings of ephemeral landscapes and bold, expressive horses. Across mediums, her work is unified by a deep reverence for nature and a sense of urgency to protect what is increasingly at risk. She invites viewers not only to admire the natural world, but to honor and care for it.

My method is slow, but once moving through the land I work assuredly and intuitively, I find there is little equivocation over what to photograph. I question little when moved to expose a sheet of film. The questions come after. I believe there are always far more questions than answers. The heavy lifting, after I put a photograph out into the world, is up to the viewer. If I have done my job the weight should be manageable in its own way by anyone willing or able to take the time.
Most of my photography these days utilize a 4×5 view film camera. I develop the film in my dark room and then scan the resulting negatives into my computer creating digital files. I will then make subtle adjustments of light value similar to what I might do in the dark room, utilizing Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I then make 5×7 inch inkjet prints which I can use to evaluate and plan my film prints.
Once I have decided what I want to make a silver gelatin print of, I return to the darkroom with the original negative and fully process that into a final archival silver gelatin print. A final note of clarification: the creation of a silver gelatin print does not utilize digital technology at all. All adjustments affecting elements of value, tonality and contrast are made manually in the darkroom.

About the work
The pieces in this exhibition incorporate clays foraged from Montana and sites where my ancestors and I have lived— ground carried forward, made into form. Although this began as a practice for exploring my personal relationship to land and lineage, the work speaks to experiences shared across generations of people who have moved, been displaced, chosen to stay, or been left behind.
The questions that practice raises are the questions of this show. What do we carry when we leave a place? What do we owe the places that made us? Can belonging be porous, or do communities depend on borders and shared history to be close knit? How does movement shape our collective understanding of obligation, belonging, and community?
The figures are not portraits but postures of staying, leaving, or returning. Ceramic bricks made from the foraged clays propose that home is something constructed out of the materials of place, built slowly and collectively while navigating forces that both pull and push.
About the artist
Chris Stoddard is a contemporary ceramic sculptor whose figurative pieces explore the layered legacies of family, industry, and belonging. Many of her pieces incorporate hand collected “wild” clay and other materials from personally meaningful places to reinforce the ties between the earth and the human body, the tension between human industry and the natural world, and between the past and the current moment. She has exhibited throughout the Western United States and lives in Bozeman, MT.

We're looking for acts that are holiday-themed, but with a twist. A little spice. A little heat. A little mischief under the mistletoe. Think festive, but unexpected.
Bring us your cabaret, burlesque, comedy, circus, drag, dance, or anything delightfully seasonal and tastefully scandalous. And tell all your friends.
