OPEN SEWING IN THE MAKERSPACE

The holiday season will be here before you know it! You can use our Makerspace to put together handmade costumes, gifts and decorations. Drop in during any of the days and times below
to access our Baby Lock sewing machines, cutting pads, rulers, hand tools and more. Never used a sewing machine before? On Mondays and Tuesdays, our staff and volunteers will be available to help you create your first project!
Mondays, 3:30-5:30pm: Open Sewing
Tuesdays, 10:30am–12:30pm: Open Sewing
Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30pm: Advanced Open Sewing
Fridays, 3-4:45pm: Open Makers

Did you know that we have meeting rooms available for community members to rent at the Downtown Library and Redwood Shores Branch Library? We make our meeting rooms available for public use by organizations for educational, cultural, intellectual, civic or charitable activities.
We begin accepting applications for the 2023 calendar today, Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Do you need help with your computer or with navigating the internet? Do you know someone who needs access to low-cost internet service and devices so that they can get online? Get connected with Digital Navigators experts who can provide a personalized assistance in English and Spanish.
Digital Navigators, part of the Connected California program, are skilled experts to help you to find low-cost internet service and devices for your home so you can get online, learn basic computer skills to navigate the internet, and to connect you with online resources to improve your life. This program is available to everyone in California and, the best part of the Digital Navigator program is that you will be working with a California Library worker! A Navigator will respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday) and work with you one-on-one to discuss your needs and how they can help.

Wanted Items: Books, CDs, DVDs in very good condition. We especially needs donations of children's books.
How else can I donate?
If you have a small donation, you can bring the materials inside the Downtown Library and place them in the donation box near the Friends Bookstore. Please do not leave donations in the Library bookdrops or at Library entrances. Donations left in this manner will not be accepted by the Friends.

Join us for a Sensory Friendly Storytime, for children diagnosed with ASD or other learning challenges. Families are welcome to meet the librarians, participate in crafts and enjoy the stories.

RCPL LISTENS
RCPL Listens provides an opportunity for community members to share their aspirations to help shape the Library’s service priorities for 2023 and beyond. Targeted listening sessions are available for specific community members, and open sessions are available for anyone who wants to contribute to the Library’s future plans. Funbotics is a stem based organization aspiring to teach students all about stem through hands-on as well as computer based projects. Led by sophomores at Palo Alto High School.

Share, take, and start plant seedlings at this outdoor gardening exchange event. We will have supplies and tips for starting seeds from our Seed Library, with a special focus on native plants and fall/winter food crops.
