Do you have a dress to donate to the Princess Project?

The Princess Project, in partnership with Burlingame Youth Advisory Committee and Burlingame High School Students in Action, is seeking new or gently used formal gowns and accessories for deserving young teens looking for a perfect prom dress. Dresses can be dropped off at the Recreation Center, during the month of February. For more information, contact Nicole Rath at (650) 558-7308.

Interested in preparing your yard for summer with a water efficient landscape, but don't know where to start? City staff is here to help with a demonstration project at the Burlingame Police Station . The City is replacing the Police Station's front lawn with an attractive, water efficient landscape and will be documenting the entire process as a resource for Burlingame residents. Check out the City's progress, starting with their first step, designing a landscape .

"Food Waste in the Land of Plenty"

Learn about the enormous problem of food waste in America and what a local organization, Peninsula Food Runners, is doing about it. You'll also see John Oliver's hilarious take on the issue in an HBO clip. No admission charge. Free snacks and desserts will be served. Anyone who doesn't drive alone to this program is eligible for a free prize. Presented by the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame. "Get Ready" Disaster Preparedness Class
Wednesday, March 23 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon
Burlingame Recreation Center at 850 Burlingame Avenue

This basic disaster preparedness class will teach you how to prepare yourself, your family, home and workplace for a major disaster. The information provided will allow you to help yourself, rather than needing help, following a disaster.

Course instructors are experienced staff of the Central County Fire Department which serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and Town of Hillsborough. If interested in attending this training, please register online at Get Ready Training Registration. This class is offered free to all Burlingame, Hillsborough and Millbrae residents.

"Show Tune Extravaganza"
TONIGHT - February 11 at 7:00 p.m.
at Burlingame High School

The Burlingame High School's Choir Concert "Show Tune Extravaganza" will feature soloists, ensembles and the choirs of Burlingame High School and San Mateo High School singing songs from our favorite musicals from the stage and screen.   All proceeds will help fund the choir's Spring Performance Tour to New Orleans.

The Boreal Trio, top prize-winners of numerous competitions, is passionate about exploring the existing chamber repertoire for clarinet, viola and piano, as well as inspiring composers to create new work for this unusual combination. Boreal brings to Kohl Mansion a program of pieces by Mozart, Schumann, Max Bruch and Jean Françaix to capture our hearts on Valentine's Day.

Upcoming Music Programs
  • Tuesday, March 1 starting at 6:00 p.m., Mills High School will host a District Band Showcase.  Burlingame High Schools' Wind Ensemble will be performing along with 5 other schools' upper level bands.  
  • Thursday, March 3 the Burlingame High School Chorus, Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will be performing at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.
  • Saturday, March 5th at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center, the In Concert District Honors Jazz Band and Orchestra Performance Finale will perform at 7:00 p.m.  
All are welcomed to attend these performances.
