WaterReductionCouncil Urges Continued Water Use Reductions
Applauds 18% reduction to date

On April 1, 2015, Governor Brown issued Executive Order B-29-15, requiring the first-ever statewide mandatory water reductions to reduce urban potable (drinking) water demand by a combined 25% statewide. On May 5, 2015, the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) adopted emergency regulations for all urban water suppliers (including the City of Burlingame) to meet the required 25% reduction. Based on its current level of water conservation efforts and per capita water consumption, Burlingame is required to reduce water use by 16% during the period of June 2015-February 2016 compared to the baseline water consumption period (June 2013-February 2014). The City has already conserved approximately 18% compared to the baseline period.

The City Council declared a water shortage on May 18, 2015 and formally implemented water conservation restrictions to meet the State mandate. As the City has already met its water use reduction requirement, it will focus on maintaining its current conservation levels but encourages its residents and businesses owners to conserve more when possible.

You may also call our Water Conservation Hotline at (650) 558-7612 or email us at [email protected] if you have any questions or to help us educate your neighbors who may need assistance understanding the water restrictions. Thank you for helping the City do its part to continue to conserve water!

Parks and Recreation introduces a new movie series

Due to the popularity of the "Summer Movies in the Park" series, the Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department is introducing a new, free special event: "Throwback Thursdays Movies Series".  On select Thursdays, starting this Fall 2015, we will be showing movies on our beautiful 30 foot inflatable screen (A BIG thanks to the Burlingame Mother's Club for the donation!). Our plan is to make this series a road show; the movies will be shown at various parks around Burlingame. The current Summer Movies Series will still be family friendly, however, if you need a good date night, or an evening out with friends, the Throwback Thursdays series will be your chance to have a fun night out in Burlingame, enjoying some classic movies.

In order to play movies that Burlingame wants to see, we hope you will take two minutes to fill out our survey !  We are open for suggestions as well!  The deadline to respond to this survey is next Wednesday, May 27th. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you!
