The Jobs Gap
Most analysts expected the economy to create one million jobs in April. Instead, businesses added a paltry 266,000 new jobs—that’s a gap of almost 750,000 jobs. Did I say it was a big miss? However, the unemployment rate remained essentially unchanged at 6.1 percent. At the same time, wages rose 0.7 percent from March and the labor force increased 430,000 overall. As first glance, it seems the economy is sending us lots of mixed signals. But is it? Taking a bit closer look at the numbers provides us some answers and the key is the labor market. . . . . .. .. . . . . . .. .. . . . . . .. .. . . . . . .. .. . Jobs Gap
Capital Gains Tax
When a potential new business never opens it doors because it cannot raise the capital to finance the opening, who loses? Most people would say the business owner and the people the business would have employed. But in the current debate over President Biden’s proposal to increase capital gains taxes by more than 80%, these entrepreneurs and potential employees are the forgotten men and women.

Vaccinate Coloradans 12 And Up
Providers in Colorado who are administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine can now vaccinate any Coloradan age 12 and up who wants the vaccine. The state’s vaccine provider map includes information on which vaccine each location is administering. All of the state’s Community Vaccination Sites offer the Pfizer vaccine, and most do not require an appointment. “We are excited to hear that we are able to offer this safe and effective vaccine to nearly 300,000 additional Coloradans between the ages of 12 and 15,” said Dr. Alexis Burakoff, a medical epidemiologist at CDPHE. “As more older Coloradans have accessed the vaccine, we are seeing higher rates of cases in teenagers and children. We know there is a clear correlation between high vaccination rates and low infection rates, and this vaccine can now provide relief for thousands of additional families across the state.” .......................................................... .Vaccines
