Honored as the Logan County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Week is the First English Lutheran Church represented by (left to right) Tina, Betty, Carolyn, Pastor Richard, Alvera, Katie and Monica.

.....First English is a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod - and during the 1920s the need was seen among Lutherans in Sterling for an English language opportunity to worship the Lord and Savior.
.....On Dec. 11, 1927, many people attended an organizational meeting. First English Lutheran Church was born that
.....In the years since that first night parishioners have worshiped the Lord in a variety of places including at the Sterling Junior High School (which eventually became Sexson School which is now closed), in the basement of Trinity Lutheran School, a first church building located at 210 N. Division St. (dedicated in 1937), at The Fox Theater (while their current building was being constructed) and their present facility at 701 Fairhurst St., dedicated in 1954, and their education building dedicated in 1965.
.....The church congregation believes the Bible is God's Word. Their Lutheran emphasis is that they all have made mistakes and sin but are saved by God's grace alone, by faith in Jesus alone. They are a Family!
.....First English like every other Church in Sterling found themselves in very interesting times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They worked tirelessly and remained open for worship on every Sunday! They did not miss one Sunday!
.....First English went to many multiple tiny services each Sunday in order to go above and beyond the Public Health Orders to ensure that anyone who wanted to attend in person Worship Service would be able to attend. .....A member has dedicated herself to making masks for the members so that they could wear them in Worship and out in the community as needed.
.....Communion is now being offered every Sunday in order that members who have the desire can attend every week, and those who have needed to miss worship services do not now have to wait for it to be offered just a few times a month.
.....Higher cleaning measures, physical distance, and many different volunteers have made everything possible. First English feels truly blessed!

Uneven Impact
The economic recovery is taking on a “K-shape.” That means some industries are doing well (they are the top part of the “K”) while others continue to struggle (the bottom part of the “K”). The job market data is a good example of how the K-shaped recovery is playing out.

Vote For Jobs Toolkit
The U.S. Chamber has also created a new member-exclusive Vote For Jobs Social Media Toolkit to help you promote these resources to your members and networks, empowering them to make their voices heard on Election Day. Voter Tool Kit
