S & S Auto Repair is the Logan County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Week. Receiving the honor from Glenna Phelps- Aurich, (third from right) Executive Director of Logan County Chamber were (left to right) Dean Becker, Sharon Hoppe, Ross Lockhart, Trey Becker- Owner, Ben Kissell and Keith Brown.

.....S & S Repair was started in 1979 by Ken Scheck.
.....Trey Becker worked at S & S Repair for 12 years. Trey loved the way Ken ran his business which was in a very honest and fair way. Ken also established solid relationships with his customers.
.....This amazing customer relationship made Trey want to continue this tradition when he took it over. Trey purchased S & S Repair from Ken in December 2019. The name was changed to S & S Auto Repair, LLC.
.....Trey has started a new tradition of “Fix It Forward Board”. Fix It Forward Board is a way for people to help others in need. Anyone can donate money to help an individual that has car problems but cannot afford it for example a teacher, police officer, single mom, veteran, etc.
.....S & S Auto Repair offers automotive and light truck repair. They also repair or do replacement of electrical, engine, transmission, and differential. Other repairs include brakes, steering and suspension.
.....If you need vehicle repairs, they can be contacted at 115 Broadway St., sandsrepair.com or 970-526- 2668.

Please join the Logan County Chamber of Commerce in congratulating

Scammers Trying To
Collect Personal Info

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) is warning claimants and the general public to be aware of scammers trying to collect their personal information. As the volume of claimants requesting unemployment benefits has dramatically increased during the pandemic, so has the amount of identity theft, fraudulent activity, and unemployment insurance-related scams.

Prior to its opening, I was asked to visit a franchise to evaluate the new crew. I discovered the team members were bland, boring and shy. None of them were customer-focused. Without that, the store would fail disastrously. When I asked the small business owner why he hired them, he explained, having had a background hiring for a set of convenience stores, “I just wanted to be sure they wouldn’t steal from me.”

Small Businesses Host Vaccine Clinics
As vaccine distribution has picked up speed, some small business owners have taken it upon them-selves to help get shots into the arms of community members. It’s a strategy likely to become more widespread as attention moves away from mass vaccination sites to harder-to-reach neighborhoods.
Second Highest Quarterly Growth
The United States’ first quarter economic data showed 6.4% growth for the first three months of the year. That’s the second highest quarterly growth in nearly two decades—behind only the astronomical 33.4% rate in the third quarter last year as our economy emerged from its large-scale summer lockdown. Based on the U.S. Chamber’s current economic predictions, our GDP will return to pre-COVID levels this quarter, and by the fourth quarter of the year the economy will exceed its pre-pandemic trajectory.

Resources For Small Businesses
Housing and Utilities Assistance
During this year’s special session, we collaborated with bipartisan legislators in the General Assembly to allocate an additional $54 million in housing assistance through the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). For more information on DOLA’s housing programs and to access support for your rent or mortgage, visit their website. We also allocated $5 million to Energy Outreach Colorado to help Coloradans with utility assistance. Visit their website for more information on how to access those funds. You can also find more information on other programs serving our state, such as County Housing Authorities, the Colorado Low Income Energy Assistance, and more.

Food Assistance
During this pandemic, 1 in 3 Coloradans aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from. I’m proud that during the special session earlier this year we awarded $5 million to the Food Pantry Assistance Program in the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). If you’re experiencing food insecurity, learn more about food assistance programs from the CDHS, Food Bank of the Rockies, and others serving the people of Colorado. Organizations looking to help their communities address hunger and food access issues, can apply for assistance with the Emergency Hunger Relief Fund

Health Care Resources
This pandemic has made accessing and affording health care even more difficult for many Colorado families. If you’re looking for help finding physical or mental health resources, or need assistance paying health care bills, find resources here including Connect for Health Colorado and Salud Family Health Centers and more.

Small Business Assistance
The Office of Economic Development and International Trade COVID-19 Business Resource Center offers multiple funding opportunities for businesses and nonprofits, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Express Bridge Loans.Small Business Hotline: (303) 860-5881.
