The South Platte Sentinel is being honored as the Logan County Chamber Of Commerce Business of the Week. ....The South Platte Sentinel began publishing in April 1988 by Delinda Korrey and Ken McDowell. The Sentinel was started as a free weekly newspaper serving the Sterling area.
....The South Platte Sentinel was purchased by the Journal-Advocate on Aug. 1, 2016. The Sentinel is now a publication of the Sterling Journal-Advocate, which is owned by Prairie Mountain Media, a subsidiary of Media News Group.
....The publisher is Brian Porter. The Journal-Advocate Assistant Editor Callie Jones oversees production of the Sentinel each week. Other staff members include Editor Sara Waite, Staff writer, Jeff Rice, and Advertising representatives Kim Francis and Steve Buxton.
....The Sentinel also continues to give a voice to various local contributors who write columns on a variety of topics.
....Since the Journal-Advocate purchased the paper, it has been delivered via mail to households throughout Logan County. They are proud to continue to bring their readers local news from the Sterling and Logan County community.

Rural Entrepreneurial Policy Academy
Applications are open for the 2021 Rural Entrepreneurial Policy Academy. In its second year, the entrepreneurial policy academy offers business owners the opportunity to learn how to contribute to public policy. Application deadline is July 16, and the academy will commence on August 3rd and 4th, with the culminating policy forum on August 23. The Entrepreneurial Policy Academy is free and open to entrepreneurs from rural Colorado. Only eight entrepreneurs will be selected for the Academy, which convenes Tues.-Wed., Aug. 3-4.
