This week's Game Caravan doesn't like all these spruce beetles.

Thursday, June 15th, 2023: Spruce Beetles Edition

Phone: 204-487-4263

Wind elementals! Water elementals! Fire elementals! And wood ticks. It's been a heck of a month, especially when most of it is experienced in six-second increments.

Time to return to your favourite merchant to replenish your supplies.

You are welcomed by name as you enter the modest castle, and your gaze lands on a whole host of beautiful New Things. You check your on-hand wealth and see that you have more than enough for your trail rations and health potions.

And a sparkly New Thing or two. As a treat.

Game of the Week: Flamecraft

In Flamecraft, you play the roll of a Flamekeeper placing dragons, gathering items and placing enchantments to improve the local shops.

A hotly desired Kickstarter game, Flamecraft scores a respectable 7.5 on BoardGame Geek and has an accessible 2.19/5 weight rating. But, more importantly, it also has adorable little dragon meeples! Adorable everything, in fact.

This game is a favourite of GameKnight staff member, Blair (who wrote a review about it here) and we're sure it'll be a favourite of yours as well. And good news, it's this week's GAME OF THE WEEK! From Friday, June 16th until end of day on Thursday, June 22nd (or until we sell out), Flamecraft will be 20% off (which puts the price at $36.79 before tax for a whole board game with adorable wooden meeples. That's a heck of a deal!) We have also a rental copy that we'd be happy to let you rent or rip open for a demo, if you don't trust my judgement on what's adorable. Come on down and check it out!

Featured Events: Lord of the Rings Magic: the Gathering Prerelease

Lord of the Rings in my Magic: the Gathering?

In this economy?

It's more likely than you think. And close!

Our pre-release event is happening this coming weekend! Our Saturday morning sealed event is almost sold out, but there's still a LITTLE BIT of room for you in our Friday night sealed event and Saturday evening two-headed giant. Get your spot while there are still spots to get!

Special Event: Warhammer 40K Crusade

Remember Blair? I mentioned them further up. They wrote the Flamecraft review.

They have a note for you regarding Crusade:

Amidst the chaos of the ongoing Golanthus conflict, the true intentions behind it have been revealed. Tau and Custodes forces collaborated on the creation of a psychic beacon to control the local tyranids. In response, seeing this alien technology as abhorent and the Custodes in error, all remaining armies, whether loyalist or otherwise, join forces to assault the Psy-Lure and destroy it.

This epic battle takes place Saturday June 17th! We'll be throwing down all day at the store, feel free to stop by and see the finale to our first store Crusade!

Upcoming Event: HOT BOARDGAME SUMMER

School is almost out, and we've got something great coming down the pipe.

For all of July, Monday through to Thursday, you can come down to GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff and use our gaming tables to play board games (ones you bring from home or any of our selection of rental games) until 5:00 p.m. FOR FREE.

Bring the kids and come down to learn your next favourite game! We'll see you July 3rd.

Weekly Poll

Pancakes or waffles? (There is an objectively correct answer here.)

Pancakes

Waffles

Neither

It's pancakes. Come at me in our Discord.

And for last week's poll, asking what kind of games you'd love to see on our rental shelves, I have great news for the majority of you who wanted Brand New Games. We have added a TON of new games in the last couple months! Come down and rent some great party games like Fun Facts, Monikers, Wavelength, On A Scale From One To T-Rex, Hot Seat and The Number, and games that require a little more gaming to them like Kites: Time To Fly, Roller Coaster Rush, Beast and Arkham Horror.

We hear you wanting more classic games and escape room games and we're working on beefing up those sections as well.

Reviews make the world go 'round.

You know how when you go a place, Google asks you on your phone how it was and suggests that you leave a review? "Ooh, you're an important LoCaL gUiDe!" Sure.

Buuuuuut... your local small businesses really do love it when you take the time to tell them that you appreciate them.

Think of it as a little gift. A reward for us doing a good job. And consider leaving that review!
