Over 200 volunteers are needed to support the 24-hour display of The Wall. There is no age restriction for volunteers; however, if under 18, a parent, guardian, coach, teacher, etc., must be present during the shift. I've included for you more details about this opportunity at the link below.

Flight, A Musical Tale of How the Wright Boys Gave Us Wings


What set the Wright Brothers on their path to Kitty Hawk? How did it happen and who did they meet along the way? The North Carolina History Theater is excited to present the brand-new musical, “Flight” by Bill Hand and Simon Spalding that will answer these questions. “Flight” will be presented at Orringer Auditorium at Craven Community College July 21-23 & 28-30, 2023.

On Friday June 30th, our Chamber's Military Affairs Committee held their Annual Meeting/Social aboard MCAS Cherry Point. This evening highlights the partnership shared between our Havelock & Cherry Point Communities.

Celebrated was Paul Brooker with First Command Financial Services, as our MAC Member of the Year for all his dedication and effort to meet the mission. Jim Hunter (Chair), Heather Edwards (Treasurer) and Kim Rice Smith (Vice Chair) were also noted for their service.

It was announced that Bruce Fortin will serve as Chairman, Michelle Sanders as Vice Chair, Michelle Godette as Treasurer, and Erin Knight (Chamber Exec. Director) as Secretary.

(New Bern, NC) – The heart team at CarolinaEast Health System announced they are now offering Abbott’s Amplatzer Amulet Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Occluder as a minimally invasive therapy to treat people in the U.S. with atrial fibrillation (AFib) who are at risk of ischemic stroke. The device uses dual-seal technology to completely and immediately seal the LAA, so blood-thinning medication is not needed following the procedure. Amulet has the widest range of occluder sizes on the market and can accommodate different patient anatomies. It is also recapturable and repositionable to help ensure optimal placement.

Craven Smart Start Is Opening Family Child Care Homes

Craven Smart Start was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Harold H. Bate Foundation, earlier this year to fund a project which will help to open three new Family Child Care Homes (FCCH’s) in Craven County. For some time, Craven Smart Start has seen a continuing decrease in the number of FCCH’s, creating a shortage of licensed facilities in Craven County. With a number of home providers approaching retirement age, the trend seems likely to continue.

CarolinaEast Foundation Awards 14 Nursing Scholarships to Area Students


The CarolinaEast Foundation recently awarded $63,500 in nursing scholarships to local students. These scholarships are made possible through the Foundation’s Joseph Hageman Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund and the Robert and Beatrice Honnet Nursing Scholarship Fund.
