Connecting people with ideas (no matter what)
Human Ties
Connecting across physical distance

Coming up in our virtual Friday series:
Please join us this Friday, April 16 at 5 pm for the program “Bearing Witness and the Endurance of Voice” about African American poet Lucy Terry Prince. In this presentation, Shanta Lee Gander will illustrate Prince’s importance as a poet and orator, and as one unafraid to fight for her rights in eighteenth-century New England. Gander will also perform Prince’s only surviving poem, “Bars Fight.”

Join us for this free and fascinating online program!
"Remember you are this universe and this universe is you.” For National Poetry Month, read Joy Harjo’s poem “Remember” and find your own favorite poems from her five decades of work. Harjo is the first Native American woman appointed as U.S. Poet Laureate and the author of nine books of poetry. Please join us on May 3 for an evening of poetry and discussion in a special event with Joy Harjo.
If you missed our last Humanities to Go Online program, you can catch up now on our YouTube channel. Learn about the global histories of coffee, tea, and chocolate with Dr. Whitney Howarth (Plymouth State University) as she explores the nexus between violence, empire, and the hot drinks revolution.
Sign up to hear from New Hampshire young leaders in a roundtable discussion tonight at 7 pm, featuring the co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Manchester movement, a state representative, a school board member, a campaign manager, and a legislation tracker. This event is brought to you by the NH Institute for Civics Education, funded in part by a Community Project Grant from New Hampshire Humanities.

Spotlight on New Hampshire Humanities'
Connections Blog

We absolutely love the personal stories told by Connections participants and teachers that illustrate their real life experiences of learning and connecting with each other through literature in the Connections adult literacy program.

We need your help.
As we continue serving Granite Staters and our many cultural institutions, your support is more critical than ever before.

Thank you – every gift matters!
