Recording of MK Nelson's sermon
We've begun recording sermons by our preachers. You can hear our first one from MK Nelson, who delivered "Perceiving the Bull" on Sep 22. Caveat: This is not the highest-fidelity recording due to where the recorder was placed, but we'll get better at that! Listen now at www.collegeheights.us/sermons.
Sun, Oct 6: Blessing of the Animals
On Sun, Oct 6 we will be celebrating the Feast Day of Saint Francis, and the Blessing of the Animals. Saint Francis is particularly known for his love of and communication with the animals he encountered. If you have an animal, please bring it to our 10 am worship service — or maybe you can borrow an animal, or bring a friend who has one! It is very sweet to worship with the animals around us.
Meditation in the Redwoods
Can’t make it to Wednesday morning meditation? Like to take a walk in the coastal redwoods? Join us Fri, Sep 27 or Fri, Oct 4. We’ll leave from church at 8 AM (carpooling) and drive over to Purisima Creek Open Space Preserve a little south of Half Moon Bay. From the parking lot, it’s a 20+ minute walk to a lovely Cathedral Grove. We’ll sit on the ground and meditate for half an hour. Afterwords we’ll share breakfast at a restaurant in Half Moon Bay. Please join us either day.
College Heights at the Climate Strike
John Latham organized a church contingent at the Climate Strike in Palo Alto last week. They were part of a global event, whose organizers wrote: "days before the UN Climate Summit, young people and adults will strike all across the US and world to demand transformative action be taken to address the climate crisis. Millions of us will take to the streets to demand a right to a future."
