Southern Decadence's Legendary Towel-Only Party Returns
Southern Decadence's most talked-about and delightfully outrageous event returns for its ninth year as producer Daniel Nardicio brings back Bette Bathhouse and Beyond, the immersive celebration inspired by Bette Midler's legendary performances at New York City's infamous Continental Baths.A beloved Southern Decadence tradition, the event transports guests back to 1971, when a young Bette Midler first captivated audiences in a Manhattan gay bathhouse before becoming an international superstar.
Acclaimed vocalists Seth Sikes and Tim Young recreate the magic, humor, and musical brilliance of those iconic performances in a series of live shows throughout the evening.This year's celebration also features a special appearance by Jimbo, winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, bringing their signature clownish chaos and larger-than-life personality to the festivities.
To fully embrace the spirit of the Continental Baths, guests are encouraged to attend wearing only towels, bathrobes, or underwear. Attendees can BYOT ("Bring Your Own Towel") or rent one onsite from DWorld staff for just $3.Legendary New York nightlife icon Johnny Dynell will keep the party moving with an evening of authentic "Bathhouse Disco" classics from the era, while the Continental Go-Go Dancers add to the immersive throwback atmosphere.The evening will feature three live 20-minute performances starting at:10 tAnd then, as they say, all Bette's are off!
