CARE FOR CREATION Tip OF THE WEEK COP 27, the United Nations conference on Climate Change, began last weekend in Egypt. At this environmental summit, world leaders will consider how they have upheld pledges that were made at last year’s summit in Glasgow, including a “phase down” of the use of coal (one of the most polluting fossil fuels), to stop deforestation by 2030, to cut methane emissions by 30% by 2030, and to submit new climate action plans to the UN. Follow the proceedings at https://unfccc.int/cop27.
VISIT THE CATHEDRAL COLUMBARIUM The Cathedral’s Columbarium was blessed by Archbishop Etienne last December. A columbarium is a cemetery for the reverent burial of cremated remains. The way we honor the mortal remains of our deceased family members and friends is a reflection of the faith we profess in the Nicene Creed: we believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. The columbarium is open for prayer whenever the Cathedral is open. Niches are available to parishioners who have been registered at least two years. Information, Maria Laughlin, 206-382-4284 or mlaughlin@stjames-cathedral.org.
