Support victims of the Earthquake in
Turkey and Syria
Cobb Family Plymouth Emergency Response Fund
| |
On Feb. 6 a major earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, killing more than 50,000 people, injuring more than 100,000, and displacing at least 2.4 million.
The area affected by the earthquake is an important location for Christian history. Antakya, Turkey, was the ancient city of Antioch, where Paul launched mission trips (prominent in the Book of Acts).
The Cobb Family Plymouth Emergency Response Fund is making a $5,000 contribution to the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America to join in relief efforts in Syria and Turkey "that provide food, clothing, counseling, temporary shelter, hygiene kits, diapers, medicine, and medical supplies to earthquake survivors."
The diocese sent an initial contribution of $250,000. The entire cathedral in historic Antioch has been destroyed. While there will be plans to rebuild the cathedral, the initial giving is to support people who have suffered from the earthquake.
We invite you to support this initiative with donations – either in the offering plate or by clicking on the button below.
