Our Stories: Immigration and Our Community ~ Nov 19th
On Nov. 19th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at San Rafael High School,  the SRHS Link Leadership Class is hosting an evening that will showcase students' personal stories of immigration while interweaving history to share with our community the realities of immigration.

Hear discussions on why people decide to come here; the struggles students who have immigrated go through; and how people can be allies. The event aims to clarify misconceptions surrounding immigration and to prevent instances of hate that we have seen throughout the nation from happening here.

All are welcome. Please come enjoy good food, dancing and stories! Cosponsored by Not In Our Town San Rafael and many valuable community partners.
Important Parking Update!
Fencing for the Tree Lot will be put up around the Stadium Parking Lot on Wednesday after school and will remain up until Dec 20th.  Because of the construction and limited parking, student parking will not be available on campus.  We will send out a communication if this changes but in the meanwhile, please advise your student to carpool or park off campus.
Absences Due to Family Vacations/Trips
Family trips and vacations are not considered warranted absences, and are strongly discouraged because of the negative impact extended absences may have on a student's academic performance. (Parents and guardians are encouraged to plan family trips and vacations outside the school year).  Please refer to the Parent and Student Handbook  for more information.
Review Week and Finals are quickly approaching and it is important that your student does not miss these days.  Please make note of the dates below, which are in the school calendar and agenda. Please plan your vacations/trips accordingly.
Review week is Monday December 9th to Friday December 13th followed by Finals Week.  Please do not schedule appointments or take your student out of class during this time.  Important materials are reviewed to prepare for finals exams during this time.

Attention SR Students and Families:  Don't Leave Valuables in Your Car!
We have been made aware that a car was recently broken into across from SR's gym and numerous other car break-ins have been reported in the Canal neighborhood and Whole Foods parking lot. Pro Tip: Don't leave anything of value showing in your car.  Ever.  Lock your valuables in your trunk if you must .  Back-packs and computer bags are especially good targets.
Attention Seniors!
The counseling department would like to remind you to please link your counselor as recommender to either your Coalition or Common App as soon as possible. Linking your counselor will allow your counselor to view deadlines and submit forms. If you link your counselor last-minute, you run the risk of your counselor submitting forms past admission deadlines for some Universities.
Attention Seniors:  College application workshops will be taking place during advisory classes.  Please remind your Senior to check in with their advisory teacher to know when they will be visiting their classroom to help them.

Need help writing your college essay?
Lauren Joyce, an independent college advisor and parent of SR alums, will be in the CCC during Advisory on Wednesdays throughout November to help seniors on their college app essays. If your senior needs guidance, tell him/her to drop by!
Class of 2020 Scholarship Opportunity
San Rafael Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship
The main goal of this scholarship at the   local level   is NOT based on academics, prep scores, or financial need (though if the student goes on to State level they will ask for those) but this scholarship is based on community/school/work involvement so please reach out to any students that you know are very involved in school/sports/hard workers, etc. and who are willing to write a 500 word essay about this (only hard part of the application:)).

Last year we only had TWO applications from SRHS and since the Elks are an SR based Lodge, we REALLY want to see applications come in this year.....
