Do STATS matter?  Is Lacrosse a real sport?  OK, j/k.  Of course it is!  And yes they do!

How important are statistics to high school athletes?  Well, if you're trying to earn an athletic scholarship, they could be fairly important.  This we will be talking to the person who has a lot to do with statistics for southern California high school athletics.

Thom Simmons has been the Communications Director for CIF Southern Section for 18 years.  He is in charge of all media relations, including press releases, (including statistics), scheduling, championships, etc.  I've been communicating with Thom for several years and I can say he has done a great job of helping line up guests from CIF for Kidz "n" Sports.

Thom's administrative duties also include overseeing Boys and Girls Lacrosse. He's also overseen other sports, such as Water Polo as well.

Join me tomorrow as we discuss high school sports with Thom Simmons.

Is the Toy Drive on your calendar?  Have you bought a toy to donate yet?  We are one month away from this awesome event!

Peter, Elizabeth, and Ryan join Coach Mike to promote the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier and their upcoming Toy Drive.

If you want to help you can bring a toy, or toys to the event.  Can't make the event, then contact Peter Rodriguez or the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier to send in your donation.  My first coaching "gig" was as a volunteer basketball coach and referee for the Miller Unit Boys and Girls Club in Phoenix.  (It might have just been Boys Club back then.... yes that was a long time ago.)

Please share this newsletter with others who might appreciate youth sports and what the Boys and Girls Clubs do for our kids.
