GREEN's Mission Possible

At GREEN Spartanburg, we strive each day to build something different for our students and our community. We believe that our students deserve a place to learn where they feel physically and emotionally safe; a place that is safe from the polarization and division that exists in our society and where kindness is the dominant character trait in all who belong to our school community.

We are working TOGETHER to build something special, and over the last 4 years together, we have grown in tremendous ways!

As our 5th year as a GREEN Spartanburg community is underway, we need your help to continue to improve our campus culture and climate! But how?

Through GREEN's Mission Possible, we will be focusing on the development and daily use of prosocial language, prosocial monthly themes, and personal mission statements.

We ask that our families participate in our prosocial focus by completing a few monthly activities with your students. Information on these activities will come in future newsletters, as well as from your child's teacher.

GREEN's Mission Possible begins the week of September 11th with the creation of personal mission statements with our students. All students and staff will create, and publish, their personal mission statement in their Prosocial Journal. Here's an example of what Mrs. Hester's Prosocial Journal looks like!

Mrs. Hester and Mr. Orgovan have also created and are publishing their personal mission statements for the first time!

These personal mission statements reflect WHO WE ARE and WHO WE ARE BECOMING. They are our promise to our GREEN Spartanburg community on how we will carry ourselves and interact with all those who we work alongside in an effort to be the best FOR your child, and FOR the state of South Carolina!

Up first for the month of September, we are focusing on OPTIMISM!

Each month, we will participate in 3 activities:

Prosocial Practice of the Month

Question to Ponder

Monthly Mindful Walk

Your child will bring home a Prosocial Journal with these activities in it throughout the month. We would LOVE for our families to participate by completing these activities at home! They will provide incredible opportunities for deep conversation and self reflection at all ages.

Here's a preview of what your child will be discussing for the month of September!

For your first family prosocial activity, checkout the Prosocial Practice of the Month below about optimism and music. Create a play list of 10 songs for your family to listen to on the way to and/or from school. Music is a part of our daily lives, and a phenomenal tool to help boost your mood or to assist you in continuing to focus on the positives in life.

Share your playlist with your child's teacher if you'd like for them to play it during homeroom time too!

(Just make sure the lyrics are G-rated, please!)

We're excited to begin our prosocial focus this year and to see how it positively impacts campus culture!
