Three Good Things at WAIM

Updates on what's happening here at 866 Main St.

Thanks for an Awesome Community Service Event!

On May 28, we held our first ever World Menstrual Hygiene Day volunteer program. It was a huge success! Many thanks to the 19 awesome people who showed up to build community, learn, and help others. We made 150 period kits that will go to women experiencing poverty. Everyone deserves access to menstrual products when needed without the burdens of stigma and shame. Stay tuned for more one-off, family friendly community service events like this one!

Many thanks to our cosponsor, Community Health Center, Inc! They have been great partners to WAIM this year. On the first Tuesday of each month from 9 am to noon, WAIM is a site for their mobile Maternal Health Unit, a fully functional clinic on wheels offering care and helping eligible clients register for HUSKY.

Find Treasures and Support WAIM's Mission at Our Next Flea Market!

The next WAIM Flea Market is on Saturday, June 27, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on the 5th floor. All proceeds directly support WAIM's mission to uplift and unite our community by providing caring service and resources to meet our neighbors’ needs with dignity and respect.

There are only three more WAIM flea markets this year: June 27, September 19, and November 14. Get in while you can!

WAIM'S Bikes for Windham x AirLine Cycles

Huge thanks to Brian Holdt (center) of AirLine Cycles in East Hampton for their donation to our Bikes for Windham Program! His donation of used bikes, new parts, as well as his continued sponsorship are greatly appreciated.

Bikes for Windham promotes economic independence, safe and active transportation, and increased mobility for all. Last year, we distributed over 150 bicycles. If you've got a used bike in decent shape that could use a new home after a touch of TLC, consider donating them. Swing by our Riverside Drive entrance Tuesday - Friday from 9 am to 12 pm.

Volunteer Spotlight

Doug has volunteered at WAIM for 16 years! While he steps up where he's needed most, you can usually find Doug volunteering at WAIM's Riverside Drive entrance receiving and processing donations and working with teammates to manage the flow of our inventory.

When we give back in this way, it helps our neighbors in need and contributes to our own development as well. If you'd like to get involved, contact Kristin Fortier at 860-456-7270 x109 or kristinfortier@waimct.org.
