Amazon Bookstore Coming to The Shops at Columbus Circle in the Spring
Amazon is opening a physical bookstore called Amazon Books on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle. The store is reported to be 4,000 square feet and will carry both physical books and Amazon products like the Kindle, Echo, and Fire TV Stick. 

Amazon Books will fill the " book store sized hole" in the hearts of many Lincoln Square shoppers and is the first Amazon bookstore to open in New York State.  The store is slated to open in the Spring. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as it opens for business. 
Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World at the NY Philharmonic
Starting on Tuesday, January 24 you can take a deep dive i nto the "heart-on-sleeve music" of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky  and composers close to him with conductor Semyon Bychkov during  Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World.  Bychkov is a  passionate Tchaikovsky champion who knows the great Russian Romantic's music, life, and loves inside and out. 

The festival highlights include Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, and   Tchaikovsky's Pathétique. Plus, you can join conductor Semyon Bychkov for a free talk at the David Rubenstein Atrium on Wednesday, January 25.

Dizzy Gillespie Festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center
This month, Jazz at Lincoln Center is celebrating the centennial of Dizzy Gillespie, the visionary architect of bebop, from Thursday, January 26 through Sunday, January 29.  In each of Jazz's  venues (The Appel Room, Rose Theater, and the aptly named Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola), you can hear diverse interpretations of Gillespie's music performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Carlos Henriquez, Pedrito Martinez, Terell Stafford, Melissa Aldana and more.

Arrive early, beginning at 6:00pm, on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 to enjoy free live music and tastings by Jazz at Lincoln Center partners in the Ertegun Atrium.

Kaufman Center's 2017 Ecstatic Music Festival
Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music Festival returns for its seventh year, bringing together more than 80 composers and performers from different musical genres for nine, one-night-only performances. The festival will showcase world premieres, new arrangements, and offer the exclusive opportunity to hear artists discuss their work. 

The festival, which began Monday, January 9, runs through Saturday, May 13. Up next on Wednesday, January 25 at 7:30pm is an ambitious performance by eight-piece band  San Fermin with NOW Ensemble, which will combine chamber music and energetic pop at Merkin Concert Hall. Celebrate the Lunar New Year on Sunday, January 29
On Sunday, January 29 celebrate the year of the Rooster with our colleagues, the Chinatown Partnership , East Midtown Partnership, The Grand Central Partnership, and Madison Avenue Business Improvement District, as they partner with the  Confucius Institute for Business at SUNY to celebrate Lunar New Year from Madison Street to Madison Avenue

The celebrations will kick off at 11:00am inside the HARMAN Store, 527 Madison Avenue. Just outside, on 54th Street between Madison and Park Avenues, families, neighbors and visitors can enjoy a range of fun kid-friendly activities inside heated tents. And, f ollowing the performances, crowds will send off two Lion Dance troupes as they make their way up Madison Avenue through the Upper East Side, on a decorated trolley. Click here to learn more.
