President's Report

By Lorraine Zamora

Three Parks has a busy year coming up in 2024, and we’re off to a great start.

On a sunny afternoon in mid January, thanks to Lois Safian, our Special Events Director, and her amazing committee, more than 125 Three Parks family, friends and dignitaries got together at Street Taco on Broadway and W. 102nd Street to enjoy a few hours of chatting and schmoozing over an ample buffet of margaritas, guacamole and tacos. It was elbow-to-elbow and a steady buzz of conversation, but the best proof of the party’s success was the number of times we had to remind everyone that our time at Street Taco was up and we had to leave.

District Leader Report

By Daniel Marks Cohen

As we march towards petitioning beginning at the end of this month, I wanted to inform the Club about my support for two candidates for public office. Paramount to the Club should be the next Assembly member representing the 69th AD, succeeding incumbent Daniel O’Donnell, who is not seeking re-election after 22 years in office. As some of you may know, I briefly considered running for this seat myself, and weighed the impact of the campaign on me and my family versus supporting someone else for the seat. Ultimately, I decided not to pursue the seat, as I am still getting back on my feet from the 2021 City Council campaign for the 7th district, and while it is tempting to jump into another race, I am just not in the right space, mentally, to undertake that journey. But while there are several candidates who are prepared to take that step, one of them rises above the rest, and that is Micah Lasher. I have known Micah his entire life and have watched him develop from a young man and colleague into a committed public servant without peer. He has devoted much of his adult life to public service, including working for candidates and elected officials including a Mayor, a State Attorney General, and the current Governor. His knowledge and reach, his energy and empathy, and his deep experience and sense of humor would serve us well in the 69th AD, and I am proud to endorse him for State Assembly.

100+ TPID Volunteers Send 4400+ Postcards to Queens Voters to Help Take Back Congress

Thanks and congratulations to all the Three Parks members and friends who made our latest postcards-to-voters campaign a huge success!

The special election on Feb. 13 in the 3rd Cong. District (northern Nassau County and eastern Queens) offers a huge opportunity for Democrats to regain a seat in Congress and move closer to taking back the House. TPID volunteers took up the challenge! During January, they wrote a whopping 4400 postcards to young registered Democrats in Queens, urging them to vote in support of Democratic candidate Tom Suozzi.

TPID Board members Lynn Max and Steve Max display the huge stack of postcards written by TPID volunteers and ready for mailing to voters in Queens.

More than 100 Club members and friends took part in the postcard campaign. Board members Lynn Max and Steve Max managed the operation and mailed off the final total on Jan. 31. All in all, a terrific kickoff for the 2024 campaign season!

The Campaign Continues: Canvassing Voters on Long Island

Following up on the postcard campaign, Club members and friends traveled to Long Island on Feb. 4 to knock on doors to get out the vote for Democratic candidate Tom Suozzi in the special Congressional election. Here are the Three Parks canvassers at Democratic campaign headquarters in New Hyde Park, Long island..

Three Parks Celebrates

the New Year

On Sunday, January 21, an overflow crowd of Three Parks members and friends gathered at the Street Taco restaurant on Broadway to eat, drink, socialize, and celebrate the New Year. Joining with us for this festive occasion were many of our esteemed local elected officials. We want to thank to everyone who attended and made the party a huge success. And we hope you thoroughly enjoyed those delicious taco appetizers, margaritas, and sangria!
