President's Report
By Lorraine Zamora
On May 21, a sunny Sunday afternoon, Three Parks held its 48th annual benefit at the Ellington Café on West 105th Street and Broadway. We honored New York State Senator Cordell Cleare with the Ted Weiss Public Service Award, presented Council Member Gale Brewer with a Special Recognition Award for her many years representing District 6, and thanked the Franciscan Community Center for their senior and social services to the Upper West Side community.
Federal, state and local dignitaries, club members and friends filled the restaurant to its rafters. I thank everyone for their generous support; the names of all contributors are listed elsewhere in this newsletter. I would like to also thank the many dignitaries who attended, including Congressmembers Jerry Nadler and Adriano Espaillat, NYS Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal, former NYS Senator Franz Leichter, Assembly Member Danny O’Donnell, City Comptroller Brad Lander, Borough President Mark Levine and City Council Member Shaun Abreu.
Among the Supreme Court Judicial Candidates in attendance were Suzanne Adams, Shahabuddeen Ally, Jim Clynes, Lyle Frank, Paul Goetz, Judy Kim, Gerald Lebowitz, Phaedra Perry, Leslie Stroth, and former Supreme Court Judge Helen Freedman. Among the Civil Court Judicial Candidates were Dana Catanzaro, Allison Greenfield, Mark Shawhan, Brian Krist and Ralph Wolf. Also attending were Mark Diller, former Board Chair of Community Board 7, Keith Wright, Leader of the NY County Democrats, NY State Committee Members Lynn Thomas and Daniel Marks Cohen, and District Leaders Cynthia Doty and Curtis Arluck.
Again, many thanks to all who made Three Parks’ 48th annual benefit such a huge success.
Please mark your calendars for our Wednesday, June 14 club meeting at the Hostel. We will be welcoming back our good friends, Scott Stringer, former NYC Comptroller, and Alex Beauchamp from Food & Water Watch. It will be our last club meeting until September 12, so don’t miss it. And while you have your calendar out, mark down Wednesday, July 19: that’s the date of Three Parks Annual Potluck Picnic in the Park! Details to come. Check our website at threeparksdems.org!
Stay well, keep cool and have a wonderful summer.

Three Parks Annual Potluck Picnic
Wednesday, July 19, 5:30–8:00 pm
Please put July 19 on your calendar! Our 17th Annual Potluck Picnic will be in Central Park, on the Pool lawn just inside the entrance at 103rd Street and Central Park West. Since there are no club meetings in July and August, it’s the perfect opportunity for club members to share a lovely evening in the park, schmoozing with friends and elected officials.
We will be mailing a postcard invitation, sending email blasts and an Evite. At our June 14 club meeting, we will have a sign-up sheet for volunteers. As always, we ask you to bring a dish to share with your fellow members.
See you on July 19!

Club Members and Friends Turn Out for
Three Parks' 48th Annual Benefit
On Sunday, May 21, close to 100 Three Parks members and friends attended the Club's 48th Annual Benefit at the Ellington restaurant on Broadway. The event was a welcome occasion for so many of us to see friends and socialize in person after the long months of isolation. The crowd, which filled the restaurant's event space and spilled out onto the sidewalk, included numerous City, State, and federal elected officials. We are deeply grateful to everyone who who attended and contributed and made the event a success!
Below are some photos of the event. For more photos, click here.
