1) The Redhawk is Landing – We have a date confirmed for the unveiling of the 18.73-foot bronze Redhawk that will serve as the centerpiece of Talbert Terrace. We’ll hold the official dedication and unveiling ceremony on November 21 at 10:30 a.m. before the final regular season home football game. I hope you will join us on the Terrace for the unveiling and then join our SEMO Marching Band in the Redhawk Walk from the ceremony to the stadium. What a wonderful way to celebrate Dr. Tim and Phyllis Talbert’s generosity and showcase this new addition to campus.
2) Program Review – As mentioned at the September Employee Town Hall and in accordance with the Faculty Handbook, I have asked Provost Dr. Doug Koch to once again initiate an extraordinary program review and academic restructuring. Academic Affairs will host a forum on Wednesday, November 18 in Crisp Auditorium Room 105 at noon as we gather input. We’ll also have an update at our December 2 Town Hall.
3) Strategic Plan – At the annual dinner of our Copper Dome Giving Society Homecoming weekend, I shared the Fearlessly Forward Strategic Plan. I also shared the need for a comprehensive fundraising campaign to support the goals outlined in the plan. We are currently engaged with a consultant, Gonser Gerber (GG) in a feasibility study to get ready for a $100 million-plus giving campaign. As part of the study, we are meeting with alumni and friends to gauge interest and input on potential projects. Given recent budget challenges, philanthropy is now more important than ever to support our strategic priorities.
