This blog post talks us through how to apply Design Thinking to the most complex, non-linear, volatile, and ambiguous issue we could imagine: How to design our own future? Sounds daunting, but not to worry! There are many versions of the best life for each of us, so don't get stuck agonizing about that one big decision.
Quote we're inspired by:
"The main tenet of design thinking is empathy for the people you're trying to design for. Leadership is exactly the same thing - building empathy for the people that you're entrusted to help."
- David Kelley
We love the simplicity of the Human Centered Design (HCD) process. We love that it can be applied to designing products, services, systems, and to our own lives. We also love that it is so much more than a 5-step process. Core to HCD is building psychological safety and a mindset of:
optimism - every problem has multiple solutions
collaboration - every voice is unique and matters
curiosity - every question has the potential of opening up new perspectives
bias towards action - often doing is the best kind of thinking
We invite you to join our workshop on November 10th at the beautiful campus of UPEACE for a transformative Saturday where we'll experience the process together and you'll have the opportunity to apply it to your work and to your life!
