Experiential learning. It's what we're all about. If you can get out and climb a mountain, do it! Then debrief on how it felt, or how you can help save that mountain, or help children climb that mountain. If you're in a classroom, make it a workshop! Talk, share, build, create. In the end, the experiences we have make us who we are, so if we can help set up a
study abroad opportunity, bring together people for an interactive
start an online intercultural conversation on a topic that's important to the world today, we're moving in the right direction!
What we're reading:
"If I just had (fill in the blank), I'd be so happy!" It's a pretty common sentiment, but this Forbes
article tells a different story. While we're always trying to 'keep up with the Joneses' in the material realm, it turns out that experiences actually hold a lot more long-term value, and we simply don't compare them as much to what others have. They make you who you are, so invest in experiences, not things!
What we're watching:
You may know that we work a lot with other universities, creating and hosting short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs. This awesome
video was created by a student from Chapman University during our January 2-week program in 'Peace Communication,' and it does a great job of showing how much fun and learning can happen in a short time.
What we're inspired by:
"Because in the end, you won't remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain."
