What we're watching:
Poet, author and emblematic figure Maya Angelou's very presence brings humor, grace and dignity to the beautiful words she has written. In this short video, she recites her poem 'Still I Rise,' a battle call for all facing fear and adversity in this complicated world. The nobleness of the human spirit cannot be suppressed.

What we're reading:
We all face stress, and unfortunately, the body and mind are intrinsically linked, meaning that high stress levels can have dire physical consequences. But did you know that you can change your perception of stress, rewiring your brain to help stress actually make you stronger? It's true! This NY Times article will show you how.

Quote we're inspired by:

"And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about."

These days, there is an awful lot going on, an awful lot that seems to be divisive, aggressive, harmful, and downright scary. In just the past month we've seen epic storms, watched the tumult as national unity ruptures, and stood by stunned as people were gunned down in the street. It's a time to think of adversity - how we manage it, how we can best prepare ourselves for the stress and pain that sometimes hits us, and how we can rise from the ashes, stronger from the experience. It starts with a mindset, with empathy, with vulnerability, and with global consciousness.
At the UPEACE Centre for Executive Education, we strive to empower people in their natural role as changemakers. If every one of us works for a positive impact at work and at home, we'll be moving the direction we need to go. If you haven't already, connect with the UPEACE Centre Facebook community here!
