Dear Point Reyes National Seashore ,

We are well into the spring season here at the Seashore. Vast green landscapes are sprinkled with the vibrant colors of blooming wildflowers, and the wind carries the lilting tunes of migratory songbirds far and wide. NPS and PRNSA staff are making the most of the season through conservation work that protects and enhances the ecosystems which so many of us cherish, and education programs that welcome people from all communities to the park for inspiring experiences in nature. However, our staff can’t achieve our goals alone—we’re incredibly grateful for the amazing volunteers who help steward this Seashore!

From staffing our visitor centers that provide helpful information to park guests, to educating the public on the wonders of elephant seals, to even participating in hands-on habitat restoration work removing massive amounts of invasive plants across many ecosystems, volunteers help this park thrive in so many ways. With National Park Week and National Volunteer Week coinciding this year from April 19th to the 26th, we have many exciting opportunities to embrace park stewardship and learn about what makes Point Reyes so special.

As PRNSA's Volunteer Manager, I’m thankful to meet each and every volunteer and learn about the many reasons they lend their time and talents to Point Reyes. Beyond the direct positive impacts that their contributions make, being a park volunteer offers a chance to build meaningful relationships with each other, park staff, and visitors. Additionally, the knowledge and connection that volunteers develop with the land, flora, and fauna help nurture a sense of belonging with which we all can draw inspiration from to steward our collective public lands for generations, and volunteers, to come!

If you're already a Point Reyes volunteer, thank you! New volunteers, please join us in supporting our work...visit our website for more information on volunteering at the park. I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

In gratitude,
