APF Celebration in Israel
Dear APF Friends, Alumni and Colleagues,
Shana Tova and G'mar Chatima Tova from your friends at APF. This annual time of celebration, reflection and renewal is among the holiest weeks of the Jewish year. It’s a time for connecting with our loved ones and strengthening the connectedness of Jews around the world.
We look forward to having you with us in Israel on November 7, 2017, to salute and honor the Israeli healthcare system and to underscore our deep and abiding commitment to its emergency medical system. The evening will be a celebration of the decades of friendship and collaboration between APF, the Israeli Ministry of Health and the IDF Medical Corps. We are honored that the Minister of Health, Rabbi MP Yaakov Litzman, and other civilian and military dignitaries will be part of the festivities.
We would be honored if you could join us and other colleagues, alumni and friends in Israel for this special event.

The world faces serious new challenges in the fight against terrorism. Israel, with its vast experience, skill and national mobilization plans, is the international "gold standard" in this dangerous arena. And much of what is done there is potentially applicable to North America.
In conjunction with Israel's Ministry of Health and the Israel Defense Forces, APF has created this unique Course in Israel for healthcare professionals.

Dr. Shamir Geller’s love of specific lymphoma is not just skin deep
Dr. Geller feels blessed in many ways. “I’m privileged to have been accepted as a fellow at Sloan Kettering. I’m privileged that my wife gave up her very successful career for me to take this fellowship. I’m privileged to live in New York City.
“We did decide this investment is worth it for future career benefits. But it’s still difficult to go from two incomes to one, to transport a family of five overseas and to live in Manhattan. So we are also privileged to have received financial help from APF."

Assuta Ashdod University Hospital Seeks Chief of Anesthesiology
Assuta Ashdod University Hospital, the first public hospital to be built in Israel in more than 40 years, is bringing immediate healthcare to more than half a million people in Ashdod and the surrounding region. Ashdod, the fifth largest city in Israel, is located 20 miles south of Tel Aviv and is home to a large number of young couples who are attracted by the relatively lower housing costs.
Thanks to this new hospital, Assuta Ashdod will become the hub of a totally integrated community care system, providing patient-centered, coordinated care in collaboration with local primary and secondary care as well as with social services and other support services. The hospital has a digital infrastructure that includes comprehensive electronic medical and patient health records, which insures real-time communication among medical staff, patients and their families. Affiliated with Ben Gurion University Medical School in the Negev, Assuta Ashdod will help train Israel’s next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals.
Assuta Ashdod is conducting a recruiting search for a
Chief of Anesthesiology
