Students honor MLK Jr. through writing ✍️

Three SPS middle schoolers won the 2026 MLK Essay Contest in partnership with the Springfield NAACP.


The theme of the 2026 MLK Essay Contest was "Creating a Beloved Community." Essays were judged by the NAACP Springfield Executive Committee based on creativity, clarity and adherence to the theme. The winners were sixth grader Ariana Gavel (Carver), seventh grader Gabrielle Diamond (Pershing) and eighth grader Sabrina Aldrich (Carver).

California team brings hoops and hope

The St. John Bosco basketball team volunteered at Convoy of Hope ahead of the TOC after receiving wildfire aid.
