Open Bible Churches'
Thrive21 Convention is Virtual!
You know how the story goes. We planned on conducting Open Bible’s 2021 national convention at a great hotel in the Orlando area, only three miles from the entrance to Disney World. However, because of how various parts of the country were having to respond to COVID-related limitations and restrictions, we decided to go virtual with our 2021 convention.

The good news is:

  • We will still include vision, inspiration, resource, and business in our virtual convention.

  • Instead of 3 intense days of convention our various sessions are spread throughout the month of May. You can pick and choose as your interest and schedule permits.

  • Thrive21 is free! A few interactive sessions, like our official business meeting, require registration but most other sessions do not even require registration.

  • We will still go to our fabulous location in Florida for our 2025 convention.

Thursday, May 6 @ 10AM/CT
These free sessions will premiere at the above date and time on Facebook (Open Bible USA) and the Thrive21obc.com website.

Open Bible Business Meeting
for credentialed ministers and official delegates
This is an important meeting where official business of the Association is decided by credentialed ministers in good standing and officially appointed church lay delegates, who comprise the membership of the Association. All registered members will be able to see and hear the proceedings, but, since this is a virtual meeting, participants will comment via their keyboards. Four bylaw amendments and one clarification to Open Bible’s Statements of Faith, proposed by the national board of directors, along with supplemental motions, will be decided in this meeting. Financial and other reports will also be provided. You must be registered to participate in this business meeting.

NOTE: Credentialed Ministers have received emailed instructions on how to register for this meeting. If you believe you are an officially appointed lay delegate, please contact your senior pastor for registration details.

Nathan Smith: 10 Things that are Killing Your Live Stream and Sunday Service Sound
for tech leaders
Covid-19 has forced churches to stream services online more than ever before. Some churches had the training and resources to make the change. Some didn’t. Even for churches returning to in-person services, there is a greater spotlight on sound quality.

This course is designed for worship techs and for worship leaders who want to communicate with their production teams. Learn how to “best the basics” of live sound, avoid common-but-deadly mixing mistakes, and make great improvements with little or no extra cost.

This course will be live with a Q&A to follow.

Nathan Smith: Building Joyful Community in
Worship and Tech Teams
for pastors, worship leaders, and tech leaders
This course is designed for pastors, worship leaders, and tech leaders. It shows how strong leadership can make a welcoming culture, and the risks of letting a culture degrade. We show lead pastors how they can develop joyful teams even if they don’t have musical or technical skill. And we show leaders how to develop the relational skills of their teammates.

This course is based upon a foundational truth: God designed our brains to run on joy. Joy as fuel keeps the brain relational and creative. When we are happy to be with others, even work feels fun. But too often, churches treat Sunday rehearsals as a list of problems to be checked off. A brain fueled on problems produces anxiety, control issues, fear, performance, and resentment. There is a better way.

Your production team is the small group that in one way or another touches each congregant and visitor every single week. You owe it to everyone to have a healthy, joyful team.
