One of the greatest challenges in healthcare today is that physical health and mental health are often treated separately. Your primary care provider manages your medical conditions while a psychiatrist, often in another office, manages your behavioral health medications. Too often, those providers never communicate with one another.
We’ve built our practice differently.
Every patient in our practice has access to an integrated behavioral health team. Rather than simply referring you elsewhere, your primary care provider can partner with Kait McDermott, our dual board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, for a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and expert medication management when needed. Together, they develop a treatment plan that considers your entire health picture.
That means your depression, anxiety, ADHD, sleep concerns, menopause symptoms, hormonal changes, chronic medical conditions, and the medications used to treat them are evaluated together—not in isolation.
Many psychiatric medications can affect weight, blood pressure, sleep, sexual health, energy level, menopause symptoms, and other medical conditions. Likewise, thyroid disorders, hormonal changes, vitamin deficiencies, and other physical conditions can contribute to anxiety, depression, or changes in mood. By working together, your providers can recognize these connections and make better treatment decisions.
Our licensed psychologist, Dr. Courtney Liggera, is also part of this integrated team, providing therapy and behavioral support when counseling is the best approach or when therapy and medication work best together.
This collaborative model allows your primary care provider to remain at the center of your care while bringing specialized behavioral health expertise into every treatment decision. The result is better coordinated care, more thoughtful medication management, and a treatment plan that addresses both your physical and emotional well being.
