The "Love, Your Mind" Playbook Helps Boost Mental Fitness

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to building a mental fitness routine; there are plenty of ways to take care of your mind. The key is finding what works for you—and sticking with it.

Atlanta United’s Miguel Almirón says, “Positive affirmations help me stay balanced on and off the field."

Journalism Students Promote Media Literacy and Storytelling in Rural and Indigenous Communities

The University of Montana School of Journalism is advancing media literacy and audio storytelling in rural and Indigenous communities through its Montana Media Lab Youth Voices program.

Led by University of Montana journalism students, Youth Voices equips high school students from historically underrepresented communities with the tools to tell their own stories through audio journalism. By integrating news literacy and podcasting projects into rural school curriculum, the program helps young people build critical media skills, navigate today’s complex information landscape and amplify perspectives often absent from traditional media.

Through partnerships with journalists and news organizations, Youth Voices is cultivating a regional audio journalism ecosystem that informs, inspires and elevates authentic community voices.

Goodwill of North Georgia Offers Hands-On Training in High-Demand Fields

Goodwill of North Georgia is helping expand economic opportunity for residents of Atlanta’s Historic Westside neighborhoods of English Avenue and Vine City.

Westside neighborhood residents can access free, hands-on training for careers in fast-growing clean technology industries, including heat pump installation and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) maintenance. Participants receive industry-recognized certifications, personalized career coaching and opportunities to earn additional credentials that support long-term career growth.

Designed to connect local talent with high-demand jobs, these programs allow participants to earn $15 per hour while training and complete certifications in as little as four to five weeks.

By investing in workforce development and emerging industries, this partnership is creating pathways to financial stability and helping build a stronger future for Atlanta’s Historic Westside communities.

Unlocking Creativity for People with Dementia

Creative expression is a transformative tool in dementia care, significantly enhancing people’s quality of life through activities like drawing, music and storytelling.

TimeSlips, a nonprofit founded in 1998, promotes this approach by offering adaptable tools and training worldwide. Its evidence-based methods foster engagement, creativity and joy, reducing symptoms of dementia and improving emotional well-being.

Supported by the Molly Blank Fund, TimeSlips aims to train thousands of caregivers, shifting care from the expectation of memory to the freedom of imagination.
