From Our Director
Our friend Regina Bullard and her allies, like Tracy Thompson, are helping mothers in one of the poorest areas of Louisiana in East and West Carroll parishes (in the tip-top northeast corner of the state).  I hope you read the story on the right how, even in the face of a flood and fire that destroyed their pregnancy help center, they continue to to serve life no matter the cost. If you can help Regina, please email her!
We were pleased today to learn that GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump selected a strong pro-life governor as his running mate. I hope you will take time to read the statement from my counterpart in Indiana, Mike Fichter of Indiana Right to Life. Clearly, Gov. Pence is a strong pro-life advocate. His selection sends a message that Donald Trump is serious about governing as a pro-life president if elected.

And is you had any doubts about Pence, Planned Parenthood said this: "Donald Trump's VP couldn't be worse."  If the abortion industry isn't happy with him, something must be right!

Fleming Leads Conscience Act!
Kudos to our own Congressman John Fleming for drafting and leading passage of the Conscience Protection Act last week in the U.S. House! This important legislation corrects abuses of the Obama Administration that force health care providers to perform abortions. We call on the Senate to pass the legislation quickly!
2016 Life Chains

Is there a
Life Chain in Your Community Yet?

Life Chains are a great way to spread the pro-life message and show support for the unborn. For this event, pro-life participants stand in solidarity with the unborn and pray for the end of abortion in their communities.

Louisiana Right to Life is encouraging folks in every parish across the state to host a Life Chain this fall. Life Chains are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2 across the U.S. and Canada, though some groups have scheduled the event for another day.

Several Life Chains are already planned in Louisiana, and many others are likely, though those sites have not been verified. Events are being added to our website as we receive information on them.

If you would like to plan a Life Chain in your community, contact state coordinator Julie Hanks at 985-351-3143 or email her at julieandedinhammond@

New Video Highlights Planned Parenthood Undercover Work
Just over a year ago, the Center for Medical Progress released the first of 12 videos that exposed Planned Parenthood officials bragging about making money selling aborted babies, making arrangements to sell more, and how staff from procurement companies would then re-sell the baby parts to large research universities and scientists.

Now, the Center for Medical Progress has released a new video compiling the greatest hits of its undercover work.

Critical Outreach in Northeast Louisiana...
Fire destroys the building housing 2 Birth and Beyond.

Lifesaving Work Endures
Through Flood, Fire

By Jay Hobbs

You could forgive Regina Bullard if she reads a bit too much of her own situation into her personal Bible reading this year.

One passage that might be especially hard for the Louisiana pregnancy center director to read objectively is Isaiah 43:2. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."

Starting with a flood March 10 that destroyed everything she and a small band of volunteers were unable to pack away in waterproof tubs and followed up by a fire that took everything else two weeks later, Bullard faced down the threats the Old Testament prophet predicted, all within the same month.

But Bullard will also be the first to tell you she's claiming full ownership of the promises Isaiah 43 holds out God's people.

2 Birth and Beyond's space flooded just two weeks before the fire.
Mobile Friendly... and Fireproof

Actually, the way Bullard and her team have gone about their ministry since they launched 2 Birth and Beyond in 2012 has set them up as somewhat of a fireproof organization.

Renting office space in Oak Grove, at the northeast corner of the state, Bullard and her ministry partner began researching ideas and praying for direction on how to reach women vulnerable to abortion in their area.
In a rural area where the closest life-affirming locations are over an hour's drive to Monroe, Vicksburg, Miss., and Crossett, Ark., Bullard, whose background is in health care administration, and her co-founder, Tracy Thompson, a paralegal, found that mobility would be their most strategic approach.

"We just tried to do a community survey, and we knew that's what the Lord was leading us to do," Bullard said. "I resigned my position at the hospital where I worked and went in full time to this ministry. I just knew that's what the Lord was leading me to do. I trusted Him and knew, 'OK, you called me to it. I'm going to do it.'"

After operating out of a rented office for the first year and half, 2 Birth and Beyond and a local church that has played a major role in supporting the center landed a major break. A local school district had closed down one of its school buildings and needed an occupant to keep up the property - at no charge for 2 Birth and Beyond.
Soon, between the various ministries of the church and 2 Birth and Beyond, there was a wide spectrum of faith-based community services taking place every day of the week.

the Rest of the Story

Update: 2 Birth and Beyond is still mobile, not yet able to find an office space to call its own. Bullard said she is able to meet with clients at churches in Lake Providence and Oak Grove when necessary.

Against Legalized Abortion at the United Nations!
Note: Mary Langlois, a resident of Covington, is a partner with Louisiana Right to Life doing international pro-life advocacy at the United Nations in Geneva. She is credentialed through MCCL's Global Outreach Program.  Read below and watch her speech!
Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life's Global Outreach program (MCCL GO) addressed a session of the United Nation's Human Rights Council on June 21 in Geneva. Mary Langlois, representing the organization, made the case that legalized abortion is not necessary to ensure women's health and is not required under international law.

The Human Rights Council, an inter-governmental U.N. body founded to promote and protect human rights worldwide, ended its 32nd session on July 8.

Langlois presented an oral statement during a meeting considering the issue of discrimination against women. A Working Group report on the subject has called for the legalization of abortion around the globe, even condemning so-called "barriers to access" such as waiting periods prior to abortion.

"Legalized abortion is not required by the right to health. Maternal health depends on the quality of medical care, not on the legal status or availability of abortion," Langlois said. "We can save women's lives in the developing world by ensuring proper care before, during, and after childbirth, including adequate nutrition, prenatal care, skilled birth attendants, emergency obstetric care, clean water, and sanitation."

MCCL GO noted that there is no right to abortion under international law. On the contrary, said Langlois, various international human rights instruments, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, "provide support for the equal protection of human beings at all developmental stages and in all conditions, which should include human beings in utero."

The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states, "Every human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life." The Declaration of the Rights of the Child affirms that "the child ... needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth."

Langlois concluded her statement by urging the Human Rights Council "to recognize that abortion is not required by international law, and to respect the sovereignty of countries to determine their own abortion policies."
