Attendance Matters: Every Student. Every Day. Every Grade.
|
September is Attendance Awareness month, and for good reason! It's the start of the school year, so let's start it off right: with good attendance!
Research shows that poor attendance in the month of September can predict chronic absenteeism for the rest of the school year. In fact, if a student misses two days in September, they are 50% more likely to be chronically absent that school year.
Chronic absence in the Baraboo School District is defined as missing 10% of school in a school year. As there are 180 days in the school year, missing 10% means missing a total of 18 days during the year, or about 2 days a month.
These can be excused or unexcused absences.
Please take a look at the below infographic designed by the Baraboo School District on why attendance matters and what you as parents/guardians can do to help your student achieve. To get a printable copy, please click here.

Check Out the Newly Revitalized BHS!
|
The Baraboo School District held a Phase II: Revitalize Baraboo High School Grand Opening for the newly renovated Baraboo High School on August 29 at 5 p.m., followed by Baraboo High School's Open House from 5:30-7:30 PM, complete with guided tours courtesy of the BHS Link Crew, a Selfie Station, refreshments and a first look at the new Baraboo High School!
As we mark the beginning of a revitalized Baraboo High School, we look back on the process that has gotten us to this moment. In 2011, the Baraboo School District established a Long-Range Facility Master Plan designed to be accomplished in four distinct phases. In 2014, Phase I successfully addressed urgent maintenance and security needs at all seven schools within our district.
Following the completion of Phase I, the School Board and the Modern Community Campus Strategic Focus Group identified Baraboo High School as the District's next pressing need. We assessed the needs at Baraboo High School and asked for Baraboo's participation in prioritizing these needs in a Community-Wide Survey.
After analyzing the results of this survey, Phase II: Revitalize Baraboo High School went to referendum on November 8, 2016, and passed with 58% of the vote.
On Wednesday, June 7, 2017 we broke ground on Phase II and for the past 15 months we have watched as our high school has been transformed from an outdated facility that didn't meet the needs of our students to a modernized community campus to be #BarabooProud of!
Baraboo High School is the final destination for every student in the Baraboo School District, and a space where every student will engage, learn and grow before setting out to succeed in the world beyond our school walls.
We appreciate the support of the Baraboo community as we strive to create the best learning environments possible in the Baraboo School District.
We are
#Barabooproud
to live in a community that values our schools, our students, and the future of Baraboo.
