Crane Foundation Visits East
|
Visitors from the Crane Foundation visited Mrs. Martin's class at East Elementary School to teach fifth graders about cranes and their habitats.
Students learned that there are 15 crane species in the world with only two species living in North America; the Whooping and Sandhill Cranes. They practiced counting cranes like volunteers do in the wild, discussed the importance of wetlands to crane populations, and practiced crane behavior and "dances." One lucky student even modeled the crane costume that field workers wear when interacting with young cranes.

The Baraboo High School is committed to college and career readiness for all students as they plan for their futures. One way to determine your junior's preparedness is through the ACT with Writing assessment. This assessment is state-mandated and offered at no cost to your junior on March 3, 2020 at Baraboo High School.
To prepare for this high-stakes assessment, your junior will have multiple opportunities for practice on Mondays during our scheduled homerooms. Students will access free lessons and quizzes using Method Test Prep, a program that is built into their academic and career planning curriculum. Additionally, we would like to offer these practice opportunities:
-
Wednesday, October 9, 2019 - required multiple choice tests
-
Monday, November 18, 2019 - required writing
-
Saturday, December 7, 2019 - optional
The
October 9th
practice will be administered during our regular Wednesday schedule and will include a computer-based test for English, Math, Reading, and Science. Your junior can access his/her results through the Method Test Prep/Xello login.
The
November 18th
practice will be administered during our regular Monday homeroom and will include a paper-based practice focused on writing. Your junior will receive feedback on this assessment to understand current skill level and suggestions for improvement.
The
December 7th
practice will mimic the full-length ACT. This paper-based test will include English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing. Registration for the December 7th ACT practice will be open for students from October 14 to November 8, 2019. Results will be shared with your junior at school upon our return from Winter Break.
UW Platteville/Baraboo Sauk County Campus will also be offering two ACT Test prep sessions.
Saturday, Oct; 19 from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Lamers Bus Lines is Seeking Additional School Bus Drivers!

Lamers Bus Lines is seeking additional school bus drivers!
This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for work before or after school. It's also a great job for parents of students in the District because:
- There are no nights or weekends for route drivers
- Drivers get summer vacation and snow days, just like the students
- If your child is in any sports or activities, you can get paid to cheer them on and support the team by driving the team bus
Lamers Bus Lines will provide complete paid training, and teach you everything you need to know about driving a school bus.
Please spread the word to anyone who may be interested to help us ensure that our students get to school, sports, and activities on time each day.
Questions may be directed the Lamers School Bus Office in Baraboo at 608-448-4851 extension 2.
Apply online at GoLamers.com/careers
