Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Update
|
|
Have you heard the term "SEL" but not really understood what it means in the school context? In a nutshell, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) helps students regulate and comprehend their emotions, use compassion and empathy to understand the needs of other people, create frameworks to achieve their goals, build relationships, and make good decisions. These skills pave the way for positive life and school experiences. For some background on the PTO's SEL program and initiatives over the past few years, read this SEL letter from our PTO SEL program coordinator, Veronica Spencer-Palmer.
