Did You Know About Our School Directory?
Our school directory from DirectorySpot is a great – and often overlooked – resource to view class lists and get the contact information for any teacher or parent/guardian at our school.

Simply go to the DirectorySpot Login page and click “Reset Password.” Then follow the prompts to set your login and gain access. If you still can’t log in after trying the steps above, please email [email protected]. SPOTLIGHT ON STEAM
Ms. Kwa (& Scruffy) Help Students Stay Techy
Ms. Kwa has wasted no time getting Roy Cloud students back into a STEAM state of mind with her engaging lessons. Check in with your kids on what they've been learning in their STEAM classes and be prepared to be impressed! Here's a quick welcome message from Ms. Kwa:
Dear Roy Cloud families,
x
I'm so excited that we're all back in person for another year of STEAM! We kicked off the year getting students reacquainted with their devices and EdTech programs on Clever. I'm so impressed by how techy they are! It's been hard getting Scruffy (the bear) to stop interrupting classes. I can't believe he added his own questions in Google Classroom! Looking forward to coding and building together!

Welcome Back, Ms. Atreyee!
We are extremely fortunate to welcome back our art teacher from CSMA Art4Schools, Ms. Atreyee Ghosh. Atreyee (pronounced Aah-Tray-Yee) has a Master of Science degree in Critical, Conceptual and Curatorial Practices in Architecture from Columbia University. She is an artist, blogger, photographer, and teacher of drawing, painting, toy design and accessory design. Here's a bit about her teaching philosophy:
My teaching philosophy is to think outside the box to inspire children of all ages to see and appreciate art in their everyday life... With my hope of making art accessible to all, I bring my enthusiasm, a strong design background, and my love for fellow humans and the world around us to every class I teach.
Be sure to ask your students how they're getting creative with Ms. Atreyee in art class and stay tuned for a spotlight on art activities from time to time!
Introducing Mr. Kevin Ha in the Garden
This year, we welcome Mr. Kevin Ha as our new Garden Science teacher. Kevin has a degree in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from UC Davis. Before becoming an Education Outside Fellow with Climate Corps, he worked as a biologist supporting environmental compliance for hydroelectric projects in the Sierra Nevada. With classes starting this week, we know you'll soon be hearing how your students love spending time learning in the garden with Mr. Kevin! Here's an intro message:
Hi everyone!

I am so excited to join this wonderful community and to bring environmental education into your K-5 classrooms! Throughout my life, I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by nature. My most magical memories were made outside, where I developed a love for the environment that was built on a sense of wonder and appreciation. As an educator at Roy Cloud, I aim to help your kids experience this same magic as we embark on a journey rooted in four principles:

  1. Sparking interest in science;
  2. Improving attitude towards fruit and vegetables;
  3. Increasing environmental stewardship knowledge; and
  4. Developing connection with the natural world.

I am so excited for this journey together and the year ahead of us!

Direct Donations is Charging Ahead!
We're over a month into our direct donations campaign and we've tallied $57,000 in donations! With an 8% participation rate from our families, we still have a long way to go to reach our $250,000 fundraising goal. THANK YOU to the families that have already donated. If you haven't yet made your donation, please help the PTO Power Up and donate today to keep our wonderful school programs running!

And remember, you may be able to double your donation with corporate matching from your employers! We've made it super easy to see if your company matches!
