On Sunday, Kraig Mickelsen gave an address as part of GLC’s new Challenge Taskforce to say, “GLC is Still Open”, naming the ways we have been continuing to minister in this time of pandemic. As a staff, we have been seeking and planning creative ways for our community to keep living as the Body of Christ in our town and beyond. We are grateful for the involvement of this community in that effort, in showing up to St. Andrew Lutheran Church and giving generously to the work of this congregation.
Yet, our mantra from the start of this pandemic has been to say that every plan we make must come with an asterisk – an admission that what we plan is subject to change. We are made to be honest more than ever before that while we do our best to plan ahead, some things are just out of our hands. Such is the case that we find ourselves in now, with COVID numbers rising in our county and Vicar Amber testing positive for COVID. In our effort to care for one another’s well being as the Body of Christ, GLC will not be hosting in-person programming through Thanksgiving.
However, Kraig’s words from Sunday still hold true. GLC is still open. Our building will continue to be open for scheduled groups to use. We will continue to worship in spirit online. We will be seeking creative ways to be the Body of Christ, open to how God is gifting and guiding us. And we will live into God’s generosity by opening ourselves for the sake of others. Look for upcoming opportunities to live genlick erously with St. Andrew Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army Gift Drive. We are still open, and there is still so much we can do.
